Hello everyone. I am now on round 8. Currently I am taking 25mg every 3 hours. Off and on during my life I've had itchy fits. That's what I always called them! Before I had heard it can be kidneys or liver, but never really thought much about it. Now the itchy fits are back and they are driving me absolutely insane. Much worse than I ever remember them. My husband is sick of me complaining about being itchy all the time. Have any of you been so itchy all over, that you are leave marks on your skin? Is this the mercury? The DMSA? A few weeks ago some of you may remember I had hives all over my body. We never figured out what exactly caused it (I think the DMSA/mercury) I emailed Dr. Cutler and he said he wasn't familiar with DMSA causing this, but with mercury you never know what can happen. Now ever since then, my skin has been itchy in the same places where the hives were and it just seems to be getting worse. There aren't necessarily bumps or even a rash on my skin. It is just SO dang itchy. At night when I lay down it is terrible. It's hard not to scratch at something itching. If I don't my legs start to twitch frantically and then I am forced to scratch. We haven't switched laundry soaps or anything. My skin isn't even dry. If you have any suggestions or ideas let me know. I'm about ready to get my kidney and liver function checked just to rule that out. BTW this happens on and off of round. Doesn't really seem to coincide with anything. Edit: After looking online for a little bit, I think I found my answer. Acrodynia can cause itchiness all over and guess what that is a fancy word for? A type of Chronic mercury poisoning that usually occurs in children. /sigh

When my fillings were still in, I would have the same kind of problem. The itchy patches of skin would also seems to burn mildly.
This problem went away after my amalgams were removed.

I have that itchy skin thing. Especially when I had my fillings and even if I just rub the area the blood would come to the top of the skin. When I started detoxing heavy the itchiness got worse and then a little better. Now its much better and the blood doesn't come to the top of the skin...just occaisionally. I have been detoxing now for about a year and a half. I am doing a liver flush and colon cleanse right now and I have that itchy feeling but I can say this it only lasts for a few minutes. So hang in there it does get better. I have also been eating a lot of cilantro lately. So yes it does get better and easier.

I had to take a benedryl last night just so I could fall asleep. My husband is still worried that it could be my kidneys, so I may just get all of those annoying urine tests done just to rule that out. Better to be safe than sorry.

Maybe you could do a kidney flush. It helped me feel better and it helped lower my blood pressure. I used Dr Schultz kidney flush. There are others out there too.

Interesting to hear!
This may be off, but I had itchiness after soaking in the tub &/or having really long showers.. When I just showered quickly it was okay... (I used almost no soap or such, but didn't really bother to wash the tub well beforehand! & others in the household do use soaps & strong bad shampoos & such..)
Also had some itchiness yesterday, I think because I ate some chocolates.. (of unknown origin/unknown additives) So maybe pay some attention to your shower/tub & eating...? (at least it seems to be a factor in my case... maybe chlorine too.. - I heard more chlorine is present in water at night & more gets excreted in hot water.. Not sure if it's true but it was interesting to hear..)
When I was a kiddie I got real itchy rash after eating anything with artificial additives..

My friend had this...I definitely think it was related to mercury poisoning. Using a sauna helped relieve the itch immensely, and most likely helped move whatever was making the skin itch out of the body. This would have to be repeated every few days during her itchy bouts.

It is completely unrelated to food. I get the itchy spells when I haven't eaten for hours. Thankfully we have well water too so I don't have to bathe in chlorine/fluoride.
I am actually exploring things completely unrelated to the mercury. My adrenals/thyroid doctor had no idea, so he basically told me to find a PCP. I finally found a PCP that would listen to me and I may be referred to an ENT if she thinks it is necessary. I have some swollen lymph nodes in my neck and collar bone area. It really concerned her. I got some blood work done and the DMSA may have caused mild neutropenia (1.38 neutrophil count). I have to be extra cautious where I go, who I am around or I could get sick easily. If people are hacking up their lungs I need to get out of the area. Wash my hands frequently too when I am out in public. My WBC is relatively low too (3,800). Eosinophils are through the roof (9.3%). The high eosinophils may be causing the itchiness.
The significant weight loss, itchiness and other weird symptoms may not even be mercury related at this point. I have to get these lab results to her and see what she thinks. *Wish* me the best.
