Redirect if URI Contains a Period

You want to redirect a user if the URI (the part of the URL after the server name) does NOT contain a period.

You may want to do this if you are hosting an affiliate system that needs to redirect all URLs that look like this:

http://example.com/johndoe

to a specific page.

However, when a request is made to an actual page, like this:

http://example.com/Process.html

The page will be delivered by Apache normally because the URI contains a period.

Code
# Rewrite URLs to make short affiliate links.
# If the URI contains a period anywhere, then just display the page as usual.
# If the URI does not contain a period, assume it is an affiliate name.
RewriteEngine On
RewriteCond %{REQUEST_URI} !\.
RewriteRule /(.*) /GatewayIn.php?AID=$1
