Expelled (Ben Stein)
Laura and I watched this last night and we both liked it...a lot.
Expelled provides the evidence that science is currently being held hostage by a belief system that ensures your job in this field will be secure. Those not adhering to the the evolutionary faith will be blacklisted forever.
Working in the natural/alternative health industry for this long, you see the corruption in scientific research all the time. The pharmaceutical industry is constantly attempting to defame herbs and vitamins and we have found plenty of studies that are clearly designed with this agenda in mind.
60 Minutes (the TV show) reported years ago how a scientist was payed about $30,000 to report that rats had eaten a cancer-causing component of NutraSweet when they actually had not. This study was used by the political arm of the FDA to justify the approval of NutraSweet against the advice of the FDA scientists.
The same things happen all of the time in science because—in today's world—science profoundly influences nearly every area of life.
Expelled does not provide an action plan or a solution to the problem of corruption in science, but it does paint a clear picture of the relationship between evolution and human atrocities that dehumanize people. These correlations have been well known and understood by philosophers for years, but now the pubic has the means to grasp the intimate connections between Hitler's Germany, euthanasia, eugenics, and an undying faith in evolution.
Expelled should be watched by anyone from 13 and above as it provides a powerful and enlightening view of human nature, conspiracy, and the world we live in.

Thanks for the feedback regarding this Russ. I have been interested in getting a copy and now I think I will. If/when I do, I'll get back with my own feedback!

You're welcome.
It's actually very entertaining. It does not offer any real solutions, but it does a good job of exposing the problem, and what a problem it is.
