I was injecting 300/day thiamine and slowed it down a bit over the month. On day 2 of 3rd round of ala/10 mg evry 3hrs..it's going well, but woke today with severe lactic acid pain. Did you have this with your merc poisoning? (I know yours was severe.)The thiamine seems to help this. k

Hi Katson,

I think I had some of what you speak of, but not quite so extreme in that area. I think mercury affects people differently, based upon where it is and individual weaknesses/tendencies.

I used to get joint stiffness and pains sometimes to where if I was sitting, I would be in great pain adjusting myself to changing my position. I hated it.

I still think it depends where the mercury is too though. It can be in bone and muscle, tissue/organs etc.

I had a real hard time with sore muscles during my sicker part of being mercury poisoned. After heavy research I concluded it wasn't due to lactic acid but actually tartaric acid...which is produced by yeast breaking down sugar. Tartaric acid builds up in the muscles and causes the soreness. One way to overcome high levels of tartaric acid is to supplement with malic acid...and after I started supplementing with malic acid my muscles felt much less sore and it really made a huge difference. I can't say it would work for everyone but you won't know unless you try.

Here is some more information that explains a little more about tartaric acid in connection with fibromyalgia...remember that one of the biggest symptoms of fibromyalgia is just muscle tightness and soreness - http://www.greatplainslaboratory.com/fibromyalgia.html

Hi Katson,

Damn! This is not good. I wonder if you would be a candidate to take DMSA for awhile to see if that might stablise things. You can resume ALA later, but I'd take it WITH the DMSA, as it seems to keep things more stable.

I'm concerned about what you are experiencing. This is not good. I only know that I have experienced extreme exhaustion during chelation and other symptoms, but not paralysis (or near paralysis). So yes, the mercury must be in those very areas for you to get such extreme symptoms from chelation.

I wish I knew what to suggest to try and make you feel more normal. Sadly, some of this may not be avoidable when you are trying to remove mercury from areas like that. I've heard some people complain of a burning brain too when mercury is being pulled out from there.

I am glad you have stopped the round. But I am concerned about the serious nature of your situation and being alone. Keep in touch on here at the very least. Ring somebody if necessary!

Did you feel any pain/burning/aches at all around that area as you were chelating?

Hi Katson,

Yeah, sadly it is often pointless to see a doctor with things like this. They can sometimes medicate, but that is usually dealing with symptoms, not the problem. I am much more impressed by doctors who take a natural approach and look for what is really going on. They look at diet, supplements etc as well. Natural therapies. I'm not ignoring the need sometimes for medical intervention, but you know what I mean.

I would try the DMSA next round and on its own to see what your response is. Unfortunately DMSA is expensive, so that is the downside to it. However, if you can manage to get some? I'd give it a go. It may help settle things a bit more for you and you may notice symptoms even on that alone. Though probably not as much as ALA. It differs for everybody what they handle.

Then if you want to try ALA again, I'd do it with DMSA, but that's just my opinion (unqualified as it is).

I hope that your symptoms start to lessen. This must be horrible. Yes, I can see why you would wish to be married. I feel that way too sometimes, other times I realise how much of a burden I am and then I think twice wink I"m lucky I have a family member who lives with me, but he's not young and that won't go on forever. So life does scare me a bit.

Malic acid didn't seem to help me, however it seems like molybdenum is helping me, especially with the chemical sensitivity. Magnesium and calcium supplements are also very helpful for those with muscle pain. I guess these should be taken at different meals for better absorbtion.

I just read through this whole thread. I was going to suggest B-complex for lactic acid when I first saw the heading. I just saw where you are dealing with spinal issues. OMG. I had no idea it could cause all that. You ok now? That sounds scary. Do you have back issues? I've been extremely stressed out lately (due to marriage : ) and my Fibromyalgia and back issues are very aggravated. Did something other than chelating bring this on?

Imo it is a good idea to get all the B vitamins together, and not just load up on one. With most B vitamins it is a good idea to take them orally rather than get injections. The only exception to this is vitamin B12, which some people have great difficulty absorbing. One could try sublingual B12 supplements, and if those don't help, then go for B12 injections. I have had many instances of muscle ache, muscle weakness, and times when I feel it is a great effort just to stand up. Some people are helped by increasing their sodium intake. Others may be helped by taking in more potassium. Most people don't seem to get enough calcium and magnesium. Those with muscle ache would probably be helped by calcium and magnesium supplements taken at separate meals. Also be sure to take vitamin D 1,000-2,000 units with the calcium supplement.

Another thing to do is parasite cleanses. Most here who have done parasite cleanses have benefited from them. Going on a low carb diet, sugar free diet and eating plain yogurt with active cultures or taking probiotics may also help.

it is important to take detoxifying agents while chelating. Things like licorice root, alfalfa, dandelion, milk thistle, and plenty of vitamin c.

An interesting article about acetaldehyde.

How many amalgams did you have? I had 25 that were replaced over a one year period. It is now 9 months since my last amalgams were replaced. I tried chelation with ALA for several weeks and it made me feel much sicker. For now I am willing to just let myself detox slowly and naturally. I used to be very overweight(50-75 pounds) for many years. As my amalgams were replaced, I started losing weight. Now my weight is around normal. Do you have weight issues? Some people get very overweight, while others get very underweight from this. I am convinced that mercury is what initially damages the immune systems and interferes with nutrient absorbtion and hormone levels. After that, people get candida overgrowth, nutritional deficiencies, intestinal parasites, multiple chemical sensitivity, and fibromyalgia which further weakens them. Part of it is also acetaldehyde toxicity.

Some people do better after they increase their sulphur intake by eating plenty of eggs, broccoli, and raw garlic. Raw garlic also helps fight candida and parasites. Have you done some parasite cleanses? If not, then they might help you feel better.
How long ago were your amalgams replaced? Are you on a low carbohydrate diet? I was on a low carbohydrate diet for several months, but ate pasta and some fruit this past week and felt worse. I guess I should try avoiding fruit and wheat again and see it that helps.

Steer clear of wheat/gluten in any form in any food. People with mercury messed up guts/metabolisms etc often have terrible trouble with gluten. And wheat itself (the grain) is treated with mercury fungicide (according to I think Hal Huggins) and should be totally avoided, both for that and being a gluten grain. I used to get poisoned after I ate wheat/gluten and my symptoms would be shivering, salivating and blue nails. I was severely sick from eating it. Classic mercury symptoms. Either this from the wheat itself, or indirectly because it caused me to deteriorate rapidly after eating it, so that I was much more suseptible to the mercury already in me. Not sure which.

Fruit is not good if you have candida. It will treat fruit like sugar, unless you don't have a case of it that is quite so bad. Then you might get away with some fruit.

Like yourself JK, I lost weight after amalgam replacement. Before that, I was underweight at first, then later overweight and bloated. I went from one to the other. AFter amalgam removal, the bloat seemed to start reducing and I was a more average/normal weight. I can still put on a bit or lose a bit, but the weight remains in a more normal range.

In fact, it was almost immediately following the last amalgam removal that the weight came off me, or the toxic bloat, whatever it was.

I was very sick from detoxing though, but I knew it was coming out of me, once I figured out what was happening to me and had that confirmed by reading and finding out about the second phase of suffering. Nasty to go through, but necessary to rid your body of the storage of years worth of mercury. The body tries to get healthier and it will do whatever is necessary (unless it's hampered/blocked by something else - e.g. cavitations etc).

Sadly, it's a two edged sword. Mercury can cause the body to become suseptible to other things, which can then in turn, cause big problems dealing and detoxing the mercury.

Right now I rely heavily on the diet to keep me remotely sane and remotely functional. And then means avoiding high carbohydrates in all forms, and even coffee. Milk products are a nightmare also (butter being the exception). You will find out exactly what you can handle after being stricter. then reactions become a little clearer as to what is bad for you. I noticed that. Before it was kind of blurred and I couldn't figure out the causes.

Since you are so underweight, you need a plan to take in many more calories in a healthy and low carbohydrate manner. I suggest that you eat plenty of nuts and seeds. These are high protein, low carbohydrate(and the carbs present are almost all complex), and high calorie. Some people can tolerate peanuts, while others can't. Sunflower seeds are good, as well as all the other nuts(one shouldn't eat many Brazil nuts though.) I stayed away from nuts most of the time when I was overweight, but eat plenty of them now. Nuts are a good source of magnesium, zinc, and other minerals.

Your back pain might be due at least in part to a deficiency of vitamin D. Many people have a vitamin D deficiency. Have you ever had your vitamin D levels checked? If not then it is probably safe to take at most 2,000 units a day without having them checked(or perhaps just 1,000-1,500 due to your low weight?). Vitamin D is very important for the immune system and for proper calcium utilization. Are you taking vitamin A supplements? If not, then take 10,000 units a day A palmatate(not beta carotene). Have you tried eating raw garlic? A clove(section) a day after a large meal cut into small pieces, chewed well and swallowed with plenty of water is a good way to start.

Pehaps after you stop the chelation you could do a parasite cleanse if you haven't done one for at least several months. Many people feel better after doing a parasite cleanse. Vitamin stores sell parasite cleanse formulas, most of which have wormwood, black walnut green hull extract, cloves, and perhaps other herbs as well. Some see evidence of parasites while doing a cleanse, while others just feel better later(many parasites are microscopic). The parasite cleanse herbs also fight candida.
