Though I have not contributed to this post for a little while - no time to get into a deep discussion and Russ has been doing a great job - I would like to second all that Russ has been saying. There was a time when I would have tossed the Bible into the garbage as irrelevant. But since studying it, and the world around me, I find overwhelming evidence of God in the workings of the human body, the earth, and the universe. His Word, the Bible, defines and gives remedy for the human condition like no other book I have ever read. People can twist what it says, like they can twist anything else, to make it seem like it says what it does not. That is a part of the human condition. Therefore, we must read the Bible prayerfully and humbly ourselves asking God to reveal Himself to us and putting no preconceived ideas onto the text.
Russ, I agree, we are indeed entering a dark time. We are about to lose many, if not most, of our freedoms and our way of life. We have had the Light and have turned our backs on it. It is easier to convince someone that mercury fillings are bad for you than to convince someone that the unborn or the disabled should not be murdered (turning off a machine is one thing - withholding nourishment is criminal - and when even the President does not put a halt to this type of thing we are, justifiably, in trouble). Withought (inter)national repentance and faith in Jesus, I see nothing but darkness for this country (and the world). My only hope is in Jesus, for strength to endure, and for eternal life. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
