Yes i believe and also feel things are bubbling under the surface, that something is going on and might reach it's climax soon (2012 etc), but bex I dont think evil is on the increase. I aldo would risk saying it's decreasing, its more like either. Remember we had lots of wars in the past, lots more of blood shed, plagues, diseases that wiped out millions of people, people getting killed solely because of being different - and let's not kid ourselves miost of it was out of religious influence - lot's of intolerance, mindlessness, pettiness, corruption, dictatorship, acting according 'laws of the jungle' etc etc- a lot of those things dont exist anymore, at least not this shape. if anything i think there is no more evil but no less, evil has just found other ways to manifest itself, and yes it's much more hidden, cunning but less? dont think so.

so if something is driving the world to a climax i dont think it's because of increasing evil, maybe because of upsetting some balance. maybe we get this impression because of how fast the world moves now.
