Obviously any mercury in your body is bad, however how much is enough where i get to the point where i start to really feel physically ill. If a person had one tooth filling, a tooth could only be a about 1cm wide by about 1/2 cm deep, probably holding about a teaspoon of mercury in the tooth ?? Obviously people with more than one filling need help, but for one tooth, would that affect you also ? And only one tooth would be easier to get out of oyur body.

I think levels of mercury and tolerances vary from person to person. I recall reading somewhere in one of Hal Huggins books, that he said that one small pit filling stood in the way of a once healthy atheletic young man from being well or achieving. This guy had apparently plummeted since one small pit filling had been drilled in.
He had it removed and recovered.
Whether it was from allergy/toxicity or both, who can tell? But even a small amount of this stuff, being left inside the mouth, can do harm to some people.
It may also come down to your reactions to metals and ability to excrete them and mercury. I retain toxins, very badly. So my years of having amalgams did so much damage to me, at the time I didn't realise it until something else happened and it was the last straw. When removing the amalgams, I then was faced with the onslaught of my body deciding then to start dumping its years of storage. Then I really saw the underlying damage and impact. I realised that I had been storing and retaining this poison for many many years.
I had 8 amalgams altogether. Who knows how I would have been with only one, but that's not to say I would not have noticed effects eventually. That young guy I told you about, it appeared to be a dramatic and speedy decline after that one filling was placed.
So I wouldn't be happy with ANY being in my mouth. Not even a scrap of amalgam. In fact, a scrap of amalgam can stand in the way of someone successfully detoxing their body apparently.

Also, something else I dont understand is, why these mercury fillings leak for apparently about 30 years , so for example, one filling could release mercury in your body if it stayed in your tooth for up to 15 to 30 years ?? Surely it would just run out of mercury by then ? Maybe im just being ignorant and showing my lack of knowledge about metals.

I think it does lessen in mercury over a lifetime for sure, but seeing as it comes off as mainly vapor, you can see why there is so much damage and for so long.
I am not certain how long it takes, and frankly would anybody want junk metals sitting in their mouth anyway? Even the metal itself isn't good.
However, if a person only has one and if it's very old and they are not noticing issues with it, it might be ok. I really cannot state for certain, since I'm quite ignorant of this also. The age of fillings, how long mercury leaks out of them before it's "used up" and how bad it is to have metal in the teeth regardless....
My nephew has just gotten a few cavities (small) and had his teeth filled. I asked my sister in law what did he have as a replacement and she said "composites", so I was relieved. I just HOPE they are not composites with mercury in them, as I believe they do exist. Can you believe it? Why on earth would they make an alternative to amalgam mercury and put mercury in it?
Honestly, the people behind all this seem to have a thing about mercury and trying to include it in whatever they can - whether amalgam, vaccines, chemtrails, even some replacement dental materials, lightbulbs, you name it. Incredible. One wonders why in the face of the fact it's the most toxic metal known to man? .....

Technically one filling may not harm someone. However, mercury is accumulative. Let's say a person with 1 filling got a flu shot every year for 15 years. The mercury in those flu shots would be building up over time and that one filling may finally push them over the edge.
Someone who never eats fish and wasn't vaccinated as a child or adult (which is pretty rare these days) may be OK with one filling. However it will begin to accumulate in the body. When you have mercury in the body, you begin to hold onto other heavy metals (lead, nickle etc).
Personally I feel any amount of mercury is bad, but unfortunately in this day and age it impossible to avoid completely.

Well yeah, we get enough toxicity already that I wouldn't want to keep anything on/in me that is permanently leaking out a toxin like mercury 24/7. Also it increases with hot fluids/chewing etc.
And you're right, when you have mercury, you tend to cling onto other toxins/metals as well. I think every scrap of amalgam apparently must be out, before the body starts to detox any mercury inside the tissues/organs.
But again, I do not know how severe one old filling would be. Possibly far less than others, but if the person is sensitive to it? Then it will still be a challenge to the immune system regardless of the amount of mercury coming off it. Some people's immunity reacts badly to metal. Mine does. I cannot even wear most jewellery.

Yeah I react horribly to nickel! Any cheap jewelry causes me to get a rash and itch horribly in about 35 minutes. Even some 14kt gold that has more nickel in it than normal can cause this. Sterling Silver that isn't plated with rhodium will also do this to me. It's terrible! I've basically stopped wearing all jewelry except for my wedding band and engagement ring.
With an old mercury filling you have the risk of it breaking off and swallowing it! My fillings were only 2-3 years old and the dentist said they were already deteriorating.
I personally wouldn't keep any fillings in. =)
