Tom Said: As to these other tangential issues, I'm afraid when quotes from the bible are being used as evidence to support one argument or another, then we have strayed from the standard of logic and reason as the basis for making decisions and into the realm of "beliefs". Hey Tom, How's it going. You and I have debated before so I just want to add a little something to your last post. It's very simple and not disrespectful in any way. Whenever I hear someone talking about the Bible like you did—saying that by using it we stray from logic and reason, there is one and only one explaination for it, and that is this: You've never studied it.I often hear people repeating the mantra of mass media who slander this amazing book (Of course, the owners of the mass media do this for the benefit of their own harmful agendas.). You see, most people parrot a world view (yes, most). Some actually do their homework and study. Until you actually check the book out for yourself, you will not experience the amazing depth, truth, and benefit that can be gained from this book that is like no other in the world. Give it a try. If you're interested in the deeper, intellectual side of the Bible, you will find help in the writings of Bullinger: - Number in Scripture
- The Witness of the Stars
I would also suggest using one of the older translations which tend to be more accurate to the original language, like the New King James translation. All the best!
