This is Russell2Greetings! Suggested reading for those unfamiliar with the dynamics of gene mutation would be to start with CCR5 delta 32. Its involvement as a mutation in the black death powerfully illustrates the role evolution plays in an organism's struggle for survival and how this can happen from generation to generation. Without mutations evolution is non-existent and life ceases to reproduce and proliferate; CCR5 delta 32 is the quintessential example in understanding how evolution permits life to continue and thrive or, in some cases, perish.
