According to an article in the "Journal of Obstetric, Gynecologic, and Neonatal Nursing" ( 2002, 31(6):715-720) The U.S. Food and Drug Administration recommends that pregnant women, women of childbearing age, and young children avoid eating shark, swordfish, mackerel, and tilefish. These fish often harbor high levels of methylmercury, a potent human neurotoxin. Methylmercury readily crosses the placenta and has the potential to significantly damage the fetal nervous system. Health care providers are responsible for educating women about the hazards of methylmercury and the Food and Drug Administration recommendation. In fact, as far back as 1985, there was published information about the dangers of methylmercury. I've included an article below from the journal, "Environmental Health Perspectives" (1985, 63:133-140): Our present knowledge of the human health effects of methylmercury exposure is derived from study of major outbreaks of human poisonings in Japan and Iraq and experimental studies on primates. Methylmercury readily passes through such physiological barriers as the blood-brain barrier, blood-testes barrier, and the placenta. Its major pathological [disease-causing] effects are on the nervous and reproductive systems and the developing embryo/fetus. [color:"red"]The neurotoxicity of methylmercury is well established in both humans and non-human primates.[/color] Lesions in the cerebral and cerebellar gray matter [brain] consist of necrosis and lysis of neurons, phagocytosis and gliosis. The changes are most prominent in the deep sulci and may have a vascular component. A late effect is cerebral atrophy. At high dose levels the liver, kidneys, and other organs may also have degenerative changes. Although not yet described in humans, a major effect of exposure of female primates is an adverse effect on pregnancy. Maternal female M. fascicularis [monkey] blood mercury levels above 1 ppm are associated with a decreased pregnancy rate and increased abortion rate. To date our experimental data lack sufficient numbers to detect infrequent pregnancy effects below 1 ppm. Preliminary studies also reveal that methylmercury may also decrease the number and function (swim speed) of sperm. [color:"red"]Both human and primate studies demonstrate deleterious effects of methylmercury on the developing embryo/fetus.[/color] Autopsies on human and primate infants reveal retarded brain development and the occurrence of a cerebral palsy-like behavior in the newborns, whereas the mother may be free of signs and symptoms of methylmercury toxicity. [color:"red"]The fetal blood level of mercury is higher than the maternal level.[/color] <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/mad.gif" alt="" />There is NO EXCUSE for pharmaceutical companies and dentists to be using Mercury in vaccinations or in dental filling material. Obviously, the scientific studies have already been conducted on both humans and primates! The results are in...mercury is toxic! I want to know: Why has it taken 20 years for this information to only begin to start being dispersed to the general public? Why do doctors and dentists still continue to argue with us about the dangers of mercury? Why is mercury (thimerosal) STILL being used in vaccines, either as a preservative or as an ingredient in the vaccine development process (which leaves trace amounts of mercury in the final solution)? How much higher are the miscarriage, infant death, learning disorder, and autism rates going to climb in the U.S. before people take action? When are Americans going to DEMAND that mercury be outlawed for use in vaccines and dental fillings?

I totally agree; if even 1/2 of what I have read about the effects of mercury from vaccines and amalgam fillings is true; I cant even think about all the harm to people that has caused.
ie there are some people that feel aids got started from vaccinations in africa; weather it was from using green monkey kidneys which had a virus in it or weather it was just from the toxic bath they were injecting into people.
Example brazil is one of the most aids infected south american countries and it had/has one of the highest vaccination rates also.
