i haven't posted here in quite a while, so i'm just giving you the heads up on my condition. last august 2004 i had the last of my 9 amalgams out. alot of my teeth were busted because of the fillings so i had to have 2 crowns and 2 bridges. for a year i was in temps, i was to sick to to anything. horrible anxiety, twitches, hives,nausea..you name it, it was a nightmare i wouldn't wish on my worst enemy. i tried the huggins recovery program with all the vitamins...but it made me worse. so i just resorted to multi vitamins, magnesium, calcium<lead free>and vitamin D and some C. i was also battling the candida which came with all of that. so i was on a candida diet. finally 2 months ago...i got my permanant diamond crown bridges and crowns put in. my nervousness got replaced by horrible TMJ. it was the worst facial, jaw, head, ear pain ever. as of 5 weeks ago i went to dr. gelb<who's supposed to be an expert in this area>and am fitted with a splint. i wear it 24/7. it helps a little, but not much. for 5 weeks i haven't had the nervousness, but starting yesterday i started experiencing a little..and one or two hives are popping up. the only thing i can think of is that this splint has a tiny piece of metal which holds the plastic together. also i have stopped my candida diet, which also has all the wierd side effects it can give you. i also still have some brainfog. let me know what you think.

Janey, it sounds to me like when you had the amalgams out, you got exposed to more mercury in the process. Then, you mentioned you took detox supplements, which most likely aggravated your mercury symptoms by mobilizing too much mercury.
As far as the nervousness and hives go, I would start with one or two things only and see what works best. Personally, I would definitely take lots of Algin and vitamin C first. I would take at least 5-6,000mg of vitamin C daily. Although this may not help the TMJ directly, it should help with other symptoms.
Russ has been working on a publishing deadline that was due yesterday, so he should be back on the forum very soon. I'll make sure he comments on your post, because he's spent more time researching this subject than I have, plus, he's talked with so many different people, perhaps he's heard from others with similar problems.

Erm isn't a year and three months a bit much?
Perhaps there's another problem? I've done parasites clenses, liver flushes, enemas, then i got my fillings removed and now i'm on an anti-candida diet.
I also found when i went abroad my symptoms dissipated. I'm guessing this is due to my levels of anxiety, i.e. it went away when i left the country, and i was also diagnoised with anxiety.

Janey,
I also want to add that 3 months is really not long. This ride can take many months or even years for some. Nevertheless, the fact that you got worse tells me that something is wrong.
Do you know what the bridges are made of? Call your dentist and get an MSDS from the manufacturer. Are you getting aluminum exposure?
Do you know what kind of bonding material he used?
Can you think of any other environmental exposures you may be having?
Everything has a cause. Finding it is the challange.

If it's not waiting for mercury-caused symptoms to go away, then it will be something else. That's Murphy's Law, or life-in-general. There are people who have had no mercury exposure, but they have other problems that would make your toes curl. As the subject line says, this is a JOURNEY. There is no "cure" for this journey.

carla, i find your post really insensitive and mean. there is a reason for everything...don't ever tell anyone"there is no cure". what a horrible thing to say. are you implying that i'm just complaining for no reason?
russ - the answer to your question about aluminum..is yes. i have all diamond crown bridges & crowns in my mouth and they aren't giving me any effect. but, about 7 weeks ago i was fitted with a gelb mora 4/7 splint, which i wear 24/7..and if you look it up and see a pic, you can see there is about an inch of metal that holds the splint together and exposed in my mouth.i believe this is aluminum.

Janey, I don't really have anything wise to say because I don't know much on this subject, but I'm so sorry for what you are going through.
Did you get the amalgam replaced using all safety procedures? If not, then that could explain why you got worse. High amounts of mercury are released when the fillings are put in or taken out, so if oxygen etc is not used, then the mercury exposure is perhaps more dangerous than leaving them in - at least from the little I've read.
When I was regularly having mercury fillings put in, I was very sick. I went from a well happy child to one with full blown severe OCD. When I stopped having the fillings and braces, my condition improved significantly. Debiliating OCD became no more than background noise.
There is supposedly no cure for OCD, so for me to go from severely ill with it to almost normal with absolutely no medication or therapy was really quite miraculous. I thought it was just me growing up and "getting a grip" and becoming a Christian, but there are adults who are very sick with this terrible condition so I really do think it was the mercury. Since I had a filling shaved in the new year and have a decaying filling, I've had a resurgence of old OCD symptoms. I'm rather worried about replacement because I'm afraid I will get unbearably sick again, but I'm hoping that using the safety protocols and alginate will minimise that.
Hang in there and don't give up hope of getting better. If this is all because of mercury exposure from removal, then if you get right advice on detox, then you should be able to improve.

Of course there is a cure to all your unpleasant symptoms!
You misunderstood my post, and so I apologize for expressing myself poorly. What I said is that there is no "cure" for life and all the challenges it brings, something that I have to remind myself of every day. Why don't you ask Russ if his life contains no challenges/problems since his body is cleared of mercury? (Actually, I am kind of curious about that...)

Janey, OK. The mixture of aluminum and mercury could be aggravating the situation. Unfortinately I don't have any immediate solutions for aluminum. I'll have to do some research. Stimulating the immune system with a Maitake mushroom combination may help with candida: Immune Stimulator The metal piece could very well be the problem. How frustrating this is to go from one bad situation to another. The Dental profession is in the dark ages concerning these issues, with the deliberate help of the ADA. Whoops! I got started. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> Anyway, I wonder if an aluminum detox bath would help the situation. If so, this would be very telling in terms of determining the cause. Aluminum Detox Bath
