Hi Wormwood, fair enough. I am off flaxseed oil but so far I have not noticed any improvements/changes. I "thought" I did, but no.
So, for me so far doesn't seem to be any real difference. I think it softened my skin more though when taking it. Moreso than fish oil, probably because I could consume more of it and not harm my wallet as such.
As long as you're taking organic and keeping it stored in the fridge. It's probably ok. I think the article is speaking primarily of refined/rancid flaxseed oil, though it seems any overload of polyunsaturated oils isn't a wise idea, as the article states that even an overdose of omega 3 isn't good either.
I'd just make sure that is the only other polyunsaturated oil you're taking if you can. You can tell flaxeed oil is rancid easily, just smell the stuff! Plus the taste may give it away, but then I used it in yoghurt and i always found it nice (buttery) almost.
Andrew Cutler recommends this oil for mercury toxic people, because he says you can take much more of it and it's far cheaper than fish oil for loadng doses and loading doses he says is what is needed because mercury depletes essential fatty acids pretty dramatically....so there are two sides to the coin here it seems.
Do you have butter? Animal fats like this, are very good. You don't have to kill an animal to get fats like this. Butter and cream are prime examples. And eggs are excellent too for protein (free range).
