hey, i havnt had a chance to go online in a long time.

how is everyone doing?

so far i had 14 amalgams replaced out of 18 and 4 left to go on the 21st of october!!

My dentist used a rubber dam and all and followed the IAMOT(spelling)?

I got headache on the day and the day after of getting my amalgams replaced..apart from that i have never felt this good in a long time.. i feel my life is getting back on track and finally sorting my health issues. im avoiding gluten and eating alot more healthier too.

only prob is a have a few questions.

I had my amalgams replaced with composite fillings which look nice. But i have never had so much pain before in my life. Whenever i floss i get a zapping, and whenever i chew or have anything crunchy they hurt like hell.My amalgams never hurt at all. they are very sensitive to cold or hot too.

im worried if its either
1:My fillings were drilled in too much to get all the amalgam out etc and most possible need a root canal which i dont want to get since i know they can cause problems.

2: I have something damaging the nerve or my teeth have gone through so much trauma with removal and replacement.(also the needle and anaethsetic wore out while i was getting them replaced so not sure if this can damage the nerves)

3:my dentist reckons it could be my bite( he tried fixing it a few times) and some plaque around tooth (which i don't believe is true to cause this much pain and it was only when i had my composites put in i got it lol..

well im just hoping this dentist is good( I always worry that they never fully get the amalgam out etc and cover it with composite.. his name is david cohwig and found him through www.holisticdentistry.com.au since he follows the amalgam protocol.

and im hoping my pain is trauma that it will heal in a few monthes..

When I had my composite put it in I remember a slight pain when biting down for a couple of weeks i think... It's been fine ever since. Give us an update on how they are now.

Hi Joe, congratulations! I'm so glad you are already feeling a bit better smile

The pain experienced after extensive removal like this isn't uncommon. It is indeed trauma to the teeth and someone I knew had it for many many months, but it gradually faded. Give your teeth a chance to settle and improve and avoid anything too hard to eat/chew on if you can.

As long as when you bite down, you do not get the sensation that your materials in the teeth are too high, it should feel normal. So if the dentist has made sure they're ok in that regard, it's probably just the trauma of all the drilling and if he's a thorough dentist, he would have drilled every bit of amalgam out.

So sensitivity/pain isn't uncommon. Composites can tend to be more sensitive also when first put in. May take sometime to settle and adjust.
