Hi Ed,

I think it's something to do with the quality protein that helps....can you have eggs at all? If you can, I'd get free range and consume them.

If you can find anyway to get more protein, I would do this. Undenatured whey protein maybe an option also as it apparently increases glutathione, which is helpful for detox. But be careful as some of these things can redistribute mercury. It's not so beneficial apparently to take glutathione supplements. It is better to take things that increase glutathione like the undenatured whey powder, selenium, milk thistle, etc.

Can you consume butter? Another very important one for mercury toxic people. Butter and eggs are recommended by Hal as well as meats. SO you can't have meat, but perhaps you can concentrate on building your protein by other means. Animal fats are helpful, not harmful. Dr WEston Price has proven this by studies. The only vegetable oil that is apparently beneficial is Extra virgin olive oil. Other oils like fish oil, organic virgin coconut oil, organic flaxseed oil are also good. Palm oil is also.

As far as I'm aware, Andy Cutler has not mentioned vegetarians being incurable. He mentions what supplements to take and that a person can adjust their diet to help their symptoms (if it helps) and make particularly exclusions if they have problems (e.g. sugar, wheat/gluten). Nowhere does it mention meat being essential! He has given chelation protocol and recommended supplements and specifically pointed out how to take them (which is one of the most important aspects of his protocol).

You may not wish to do it his way, but many people do respond to it and there are testimonies on this forum that are very encouraging. If you respond to chlorella well? I see no reason to discontinue it. If you find too many redistribution symptoms? You'd be wise not to use it. There are many products that mobilise mercury, but unless you can excrete what they mobilise? You can get yourself into trouble (back fire effects).

I found that the homeopathic detox kit (from HEELS) was very potent and definitely pushed me to excrete metals. At times I had to stop it because I couldn't take anymore. But there is no doubt that too eliminated some metals from me. I'd recommend it to someone who is trying to do things more naturally.

You should know if you are excreting metals. You get an increase in symptoms and sometimes even taste and smell of metal. Other ways also is to exercise (not too much, but enough) e.g. treadmill or outdoor walking (you can do incline walking if you're up to it, which will increase sweating) and hot baths to encourage sweating. You can add things to the bath that may help pull metals out of you also and encourage sweating at the sametime like epsom salts or baking soda and sea salt (about a cup or more of each).

Your reactions will tell you whether something is happening. If you feel nothing? Then you may need to make adjustments. Mercury is not easy to excrete. But it's too easy to bounce it around the body and make symptoms much worse, and possibly without much of it being excreted in the process.
