I am suggesting that he take 200 mcg a day of vitamin K initially, then 100 mcg a day after the bleeding stops. I too was a bit scared of vitamin k years ago, and high dosages long term might be a problem. vitamin k is necessary though not just for coagulation purposes. I used to take vitamin k just when I had nosebleeds or blood in the stool. That might be a more conservative approach. I take just 100 mcg a day of vitamin k now. I feel I need it since some of the herbs I take such as garlic and licorice have anticoagulant properties. since I have been prone to nosebleeds lately, imo it is a good preventative against these. Those who have candida problems might have trouble getting enough vitamin k from food. i don't view vitamin k as being risky for most people in moderate doses, the exception being those on prescription anticoagulants. Those with candida problems who are probably a bit anemic to start with can't afford to lose blood, and the vitamin k might help stop the loss of blood, or lessen the degree of it.When I had nosebleeds or blood in the stool, taking vitamin k helped greatly.
