Hi,
Here's part of the answer about Cerec. When I was looking at those links, Cerec is a "system" of many components. One component is the actual equipment used to put the Cerec in the mouth (made by Sirona), Vita is a component (Vita makes the shade guides so new stuff matches old teeth), Ivoclar Vivadent makes ProCAD (a glass ceramic or something, I'm not for sure), and Paradigm MZ100 made by 3M ESPE (composite block - I don't know what this is either).
I spoke with quality control at 3M ESPE, and Paradigm contains the following metals: - aluminum oxide (part of the ceramic) - titanium dioxide - iron oxide pigment (for the tooth color) - aluminum hydrates
The quality control person said the last three have to do with coloration of the pigment.
Did you know to get the whole MSDS for Paradigm, I was going to have to fill out a confidentiality agreement? That is one product of which they do not release the MSDS because of trade secrets. Fortunately, since my question was "does this contain aluminum or any metals of any concentration," they could answer that one without releasing the whole thing. Which is very good, because getting that form approved thru 3M would be a big mess.
There has been no response from Ivoclar about what is in ProCAD. If Vita has metals, it doesn't matter, as it is just the protocol for how to create a particular tooth color.
This is all I could find out about cerec......? <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />
