Hi Miriam,
for me taking responsibility for my own detox was the only way since I had no other choice. I could not find anyone qualified in the field of mercury toxicity in the vicinity of Tampa, FL where I used to live, or now in Belgrade, Serbia.
Perhaps even if I was able to locate someone knowledgeble, it would have been too expensive to even consider, so I pretty much relied on Russ and Laura's advice, since I am confident with what they have to say and the research they have done, as well as the fact that they have both experienced this themselves. Some doctors could perhaps give you a detox plan that is not suitable for you and make things even worse. With me things are slowly improving just by taking simple steps such as taking Algin regularly and the vitamins suggested on this forum. I don't know if this is the right thing, and if some irreversible damage will occur, I do fear the same thing, but the fact remains that I feel better, so I must be doing something right. That is mecury is leaving my body, mostly through keeping my colon active. Again, just doing research on the subject and following the advice on the forum has been mostly my way to getting better. I have seen 'regular' doctors who have not been able to help at all...
