Hi Brett,
You are most welcome

.
There is a LOAD of advice out there on how to treat candida and one person will say this and another will say something else. It also depends on how serious the problem is, as to what you can handle on the diet. Some people may only have to give up sugar, wheat/gluten and yeast and may get away with eating other foods that are sugar, wheat/gluten and yeast free. Even some fruit and high carbohydrates.
However, those like myself who have a much more serious problem will not even get away with that and may have to limit or eliminate ALL high carbohydrate foods. Yeast aren't too fussy, they can feed up natural sugars too (like in fruit), so even fruit can in some cases, cause a relapse.
You may find you can get away with "some" non wheat/gluten grain like you mentioned (rice). That's fine if you can do that. If you prefer to eliminate fruit? That's probably a wise idea. The more sugars you can get out of your diet? The better and you will more efficiently reduce the yeast and start improving your immune system.
The foods and drinks I have had to give up have been the following:
Fruits, grains (even non wheat/gluten sadly, because they are still high in carbs, though at least some people can eat them), high carb vegetables like potatoes, carrots, corn, peas, beans, etc. honey, sugar, yeast, coffee (can apparently affect gut bacteria and strain adrenals also), juices etc.
My diet consists of the following safe foods:
Eggs (free range/organic), meats (chicken, beef, liver, lamb/hoggot/mutton, pork etc - preferably organic if you can afford it), low carb vegetables (e.g. celery, tomatoe (also a safe "fruit"), lettuce, cucumber, alfalfa, broccoli, cauliflower, leek, silver beet, brussel sprouts, etc). Raw nuts (almonds/brazil tend to be safest), and raw seeds (pumpkin and sunflower) Acidophilus sugar free natural yoghurt (which I mix flaxseed oil into). These I use mainly as snacks, but I eat more of them than I probably should.
Liquid consists of water, vitamin C and lemon juice, and herbal or regular tea.
I consume fats/oils like butter, flaxseed oil, olive oil and mercury free fish oil and cod liver oil and even eat the fat on meat with the meat! And leave skin on chicken.
The diet is the most important aspect of treating candida. Anything else is simply "supplementary", but not essential. There are plenty of products on the market out there and often very expensive. But they may not be as effective as they are made out either. I find that antifungals etc, do not tend to continue doing the job as well as they did when you start. Because the idea is to remove all the foods yeast feed on (which also lower immunity) and replace them with low carb healthy foods to both starve out excess yeast (or keep existing normal levels under control) and build immunity over time. That is the key to dealing with yeast from the foundation up. Amalgam removal will help, because it's likely mercury maybe at the bottom of all of this.
To be successful, the diet has to be stuck to without cheating. Cheating will cause a relapse. Even a small cheat may cause it. It may take a few weeks or more before any improvement is noted and be prepared for a die off effect if you havne't gone through that before. The symptoms often intensify as the yeast begin to die off. Their toxins are released and you will temporarily feel more toxic and may feel headachey, sleepy/drunk and quite ill for awhile. Your existing symptoms may simply intensify and other ones may occur also. Don't be too alarmed, it's not abnormal and often it's expected. Your body may take time to process the die off toxins. Be patient. The end result is often well worth the effort. A typical time period is three weeks before seeing results. However, that can vary from person to person and may even take up to 6 weeks or more for some. Depends on your condition and immunity too.
You can take garlic if you want, it can help reduce yeast also, but be careful as it can also stir up mercury. Some people actually take garlic to reduce mercury, but some cannot tolerate it as it mostly tends to mobilise it rather than remove it. Depends on how you cope with it yourself.
The vegetables I mentioned are also natural antifungal agents. You shouldn't need to spend money on antifungals, when the diet and foods alone can do the job very well. You can of course take supplements that help like the ones mentioned in the earlier post above. All of these things are designed to reduce yeast and build up your immune system. Some people actually feel much better, even if they still have amalgams in their mouth. That is how effective the diet can be. Again, you will have to work out what you are able to get away as far as high carb food goes, but always steer clear of sugar, yeast, wheat/gluten. These appear to be the worst culprits for most people for some reason.
Wheat apparently is also treated with mercury fungicide. You'd be wise to steer clear of it. Plus the gluten itself, which some cannot digest properly and it can cause illness. Yeast can tend to cause allergic reactions in a person that has a yeast issue and that in itself can stress the immune system too.
I hope this is helpful. It is quite simple, but at first it may seem a bit daunting. You get used to it and if/when you feel better, you really won't know yourself. I found when I improved from the diet, I didn't want to go back to my old way of eating and feel like i did. You form a habit of healthy eating. Unless of course, you find cheating no longer causes sickness, which "may" happen after you remove amalgams and detox your mercury. Though it's always wise not to mistreat your body by junkfood anyway.
In the meantime, I'd go for the diet and see where it gets you. be aware of initial cravings that may start to set in. This can REALLY test you and cause you to feel weak and very hungry. You may even feel like you're starving and you could crave the very things yeast needs to survive. It is usually the yeast becoming desperate and starting to die off. But it doesn't last. However, it's a real test of will power and patience and you gotta hang in there and go with the flow, however painful. Drink tea, do whatever you can to cope. Exercise if you need to. Eat a big meal and fill yourself up on good foods that don't feed yeast!
