I believe other than Pwcca I may be the only one on here who doesn't believe in monotheism (yet he and I don't "quite" see things the same : ) I have a question, though, for you who believe Jesus and God the Father are one and the same....
Why, then, is Jesus considered to be the Son of God, the only begotten in the flesh? God caused Mary to become pregnant with his literal son...part God and part human (due to being born to a human). How, then, could he be the same person? (And do NOT try to tell me we believe God had sex with Mary! That is WRONG. I don't know how he did it, but as I reasoned with someone....he no more had to have sex with Mary than He has to come down and perform surgery for medical miracles/healings). I understand that Jesus is the God of this earth.... They are one in purpose. I could break that down to explain on our terms, but how do you explain that Jesus is the Son of God?

Because God is spirit, not flesh and bones.
Genesis 1:2 - And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.
1 Samuel 11:6 And the Spirit of God came upon Saul
2 Chronicles 15:1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:
2 Chronicles 24:20 And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest,
Isaiah 61:1 - The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;
John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
Contrast that to the egyptians discussed below
Isaiah 31:3 - Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.
and whereas Jesus spoke of God this way
Matthew 12:28 But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.
John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.
John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. 23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.
and whereas Luke explains it this way
Luke 4:1 - And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness
and whereas John explains it this way
John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.
John 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.
In other words, Jesus' flesh was not God nor did it perform miracles, but the spirit of God given to him by the father did these things. So Jesus may in fact be a separate 'person' from the father in that sense, as flesh and bones when he walked in Galilee, but yet he is still God by God's spirit.. without measure. Which is why he says
John 10:30 I and my Father are one.
There is only one God, whose spirit was given to Jesus without measure. By such measure even that he, and only he, is able to give to us the holy spirit, which is God's spirit. The holy spirit is not given by men by laying on hands as some teach.
Mark 1:8 -I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.
John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.
John 20:22 - And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:
If you knew him you would not have had to ask. More likely you would weep and forever fear for the awesome power of his spirit. Where Jesus goes, God is. There is none other like Him.

Whats up???
I think you wrote you believed in Polythesim somewhere?? Isn't that more like new age or Hindu or... I don't know.. I'm not totally sure... You believe all is God??? Or in one true God...
Here's the definitions..
According to The Concise Guide of Todays Religions and Spirituality..
Monotheism: The belief in the existence of one and only one true God, in contrast to ATHEISM ( the belief in no God ), POLYTHESIM (the belief that all is God). The three largest monotheistic religions are.. JUDAISM, CHRISTIANITY,and ISLAM..

Hi Jeanie,
You are asking some very important questions, that ALL of us had to have asked some time or other in our 'New Birth' experience. Have you, Jeanie, been 'Born Again', as Jesus explained in John Chapter 3, verse 3+ ?
Jeanie, no one will be able to understand "Jesus Christ is God Incarnate", except through FAITH. You may recall that Russ typed that same FACT in those verses to Pwcca, not long ago. "For without faith it is impossible to please God."
So, how does one get this FAITH? "Faith comes by hearing and hearing by the Word of God". The Holy Bible will speak and translate itself. Please do NOT use any other books, none! (except maybe a Bible Concordance or Dictionary).
What is FAITH? "Faith is the substance of things hoped for, the evidence of things NOT seen." How can a person 'PLEASE' God? "Without FAITH it is impossible to PLEASE the LORD."
Jeanie, you may recall that Moses wanted to SEE God, but God told Moses in Exodus Chapter 33: verse:20 ..."You cannot see MY face, for no man can see Me and live!" Therefore, we must BELIEVE all of what this Bible tells us about God.
You are absolutely correct in that the Virgin Mary was 'overshadowed by the Holy Spirit" and conceived in her womb-- whom the angel Gabriel explains in LUKE Chapter 1 beginning at verses 26 . There was NO SEX ....verse 35 "The angel answered and said to her "The Holy Spirit will come upon you and the power of the Most High (God the Father) will overshadow you; and FOR THAT REASON the Holy Child shall be called the Son of God." Did you catch that, Jeanie? re-read that and ask the Lord to open your SPIRITUAL eyes, please.
In Colossians Chapter 1 verses 15 - 20 ; "He (Jesus) is the image of the invisible God, the firstborn of ALL creation. For by Him all things were created, both in the heavens and on earth, visible and invisible,....-all things have been created through Him and for Him. He is BEFORE all things, and in Him all things hold together. He is also head of the body, the church, and He is the beginning, the firstborn from the dead, so that He Himself will come to have first place in everything. Now, dear Jeanie, CATCH these verses 19-20, "For it was the Father's good pleasure for all the fullness (of the Godhead) to dwell in Him, and through Him to reconcile all things to Himself, having made peace through the blood of His cross; through Him, I say, whether things on earth or things in heaven."
Because you know Jeanie that I DO NOT copy and paste, please KNOW that I prayed before typing any of the above scripture verses. In Hebrews 13:8 we read "Jesus Christ is the same yesterday, and today, and forever."
Jesus Christ is the WORD: "...the Word was made flesh, and dwelth among us..." Jesus and God are ONE... "I and my Father are one." John 10:30. Jesus said,"...he that hath seen Me hath seen the Father; and how sayest thou , show us the Father? " (John 14:9)
As you can imagine,Jeanie, this is very tireing (the Holy Spirit is typing all this through me, for sure)...Jesus said unto them, "Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I Am " (John 8:58).
The Trinity is truly ALL FAITH, God the Father, God the Son, and God the Holy Spirit. Because we believe all of Genesis, knowing He spoke the world into existence, dare we doubt that He can also be three persons of the Godhead, in ONE? Thank you, Jeanie, you have asked some important questions and may the Lord Jesus use these Words of His, to open the eyes of the spiritually blind, to see Him for Who He is.
SoSick, thank you for the great verses you gathered together to help clarify this. Thank you, Lynn Girl, for you definitions.
'Thank you, LORD JESUS, for showing all of us who 'YOU TRULY ARE, GOD IN HUMAN FLESH.' Have a blessed day, Jeanie. Sincerely, Abishag <>< His servant....
Jesus said, "I am the way, the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through Me." [John 14:6]
