Because God is spirit, not flesh and bones.

Genesis 1:2 - And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters.

1 Samuel 11:6 And the Spirit of God came upon Saul

2 Chronicles 15:1 And the Spirit of God came upon Azariah the son of Oded:

2 Chronicles 24:20
And the Spirit of God came upon Zechariah the son of Jehoiada the priest,

Isaiah 61:1 -
The Spirit of the Lord GOD is upon me; because the LORD hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

John 4:24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.

Contrast that to the egyptians discussed below

Isaiah 31:3 -
Now the Egyptians are men, and not God; and their horses flesh, and not spirit. When the LORD shall stretch out his hand, both he that helpeth shall fall, and he that is holpen shall fall down, and they all shall fail together.

and whereas Jesus spoke of God this way

Matthew 12:28
But if I cast out devils by the Spirit of God, then the kingdom of God is come unto you.

John 14:6 Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me. 7 If ye had known me, ye should have known my Father also: and from henceforth ye know him, and have seen him.

John 15:22 If I had not come and spoken unto them, they had not had sin: but now they have no cloke for their sin. 23 He that hateth me hateth my Father also. 24 If I had not done among them the works which none other man did, they had not had sin: but now have they both seen and hated both me and my Father.

and whereas Luke explains it this way

Luke 4:1 - And Jesus being full of the Holy Ghost returned from Jordan, and was led by the Spirit into the wilderness

and whereas John explains it this way

John 1:10 He was in the world, and the world was made by him, and the world knew him not. 11 He came unto his own, and his own received him not. 12 But as many as received him, to them gave he power to become the sons of God, even to them that believe on his name: 13 Which were born, not of blood, nor of the will of the flesh, nor of the will of man, but of God. 14 And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us, (and we beheld his glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father,) full of grace and truth.

John 3:34 For he whom God hath sent speaketh the words of God: for God giveth not the Spirit by measure unto him. 35 The Father loveth the Son, and hath given all things into his hand.

In other words, Jesus' flesh was not God nor did it perform miracles, but the spirit of God given to him by the father did these things. So Jesus may in fact be a separate 'person' from the father in that sense, as flesh and bones when he walked in Galilee, but yet he is still God by God's spirit.. without measure. Which is why he says

John 10:30 I and my Father are one.

There is only one God, whose spirit was given to Jesus without measure. By such measure even that he, and only he, is able to give to us the holy spirit, which is God's spirit. The holy spirit is not given by men by laying on hands as some teach.

Mark 1:8 -I indeed have baptized you with water: but he shall baptize you with the Holy Ghost.

John 14:26 - But the Comforter, which is the Holy Ghost, whom the Father will send in my name, he shall teach you all things, and bring all things to your remembrance, whatsoever I have said unto you.

John 20:22 - And when he had said this, he breathed on them, and saith unto them, Receive ye the Holy Ghost:

If you knew him you would not have had to ask. More likely you would weep and forever fear for the awesome power of his spirit. Where Jesus goes, God is. There is none other like Him.
