What are the symptoms of Mercury Poisoning in children? My 9 1/2-years-old daughter is having "terrible" symptoms that I don't even know where to start anymore.
Right now she is screaming & yelling at me for no reason whatsoever. She came home from school over a half-hour ago & it started. The only reason that I can come up right now why this is going on is because I put a tiny bit of Apple Butter (no sugar) on her sandwich for lunch today. Then the results is Low Blood Sugar.
I feel like those stories you hear about children who abuse their parents. She told me (in anger) about hitting me, killing me, slicing me up with a knife, & other things. She also said how I am a bad Mom.
I don't know if I should punish her for her actions or not. But believe it - it is very hurtful being a Mom under these circumstances.
I thought I would "wait" to do anything about this until things calmed down around here but I can't wait any longer. I also thought about putting her on Algin but I don't know where to start with that either - dosage, amounts, etc. She is a very small child (for her age). But at the same time I have to get to the bottom of things.
She has no amalgam fillings but had vaccines - both in China & here at home. She was also in an orphage for the first few months of her life. At the same time, I also have mercury poisoing - very bad. I am presently having my fillings removed. So my patience level is very low these days. I am ready to pull my hair out.
Any help would be appreciated>

I forgot to ask something -
Is low blood sugar or Hypoglycemia controlable? What I mean by this if when a child goes through with it - can they contoll their temper & anger. Or is it so strong they can't do anything about it?
Afterwards, my daughter will be so calm. And then sometimes she doesn't remember anything she says during her episode.
Thanks Again -

How is she getting on at school? Does she have a lot of friends? What are her teachers like?
The reason I ask is because it's not "uncommon" for someone to use someone they love as a buffer when things aren't going right.
It could well be something medical, but bullying (either by classmates or teachers) shouldn't be ruled out, in my opinion, or even child abuse by someone she knows, unless you know for certain this isn't happening. How is she getting on with her school work? Is she keeping up with it okay or having difficulties?
I think children's behaviour can be more than just medical sometimes. If something's gone on at school, then children can "release" themselves when they get home. Something might be making her unhappy at school. Where would she hear such things as kill you and slice you up? Is someone saying these things to her so she's switching them to you?
Just a thought. I was bullied at school and it did have an impact on me and two of my friends were abused, so I always have an open mind on those subjects.

I feel for you. I know it must be very had having to deal with this situation when you don't feel well yourself. Does she have any other symptoms that you have noticed? My youngest child doesn't have any amalgams either, but she was so hyper and would fly off in a rage sometimes and get obsessed about something and would not let it go. She had a hard to concentration and comprehending word problems at school. I put her on magnesium and saw much improvement. Now she won't go without it because she notices the difference. She tells me that she just could help being the way she was. You might try to talk to her when she is calm and ask her how she feels and why she says the things that she does. Does she have "thoughts" in her head that she just can't get out etc. When you don't have enough magnesium it causes you to become obsessive compulsive and it is like your brain never "relaxes".

These children may have low stomach acid, which means their bodies aren't able to use much of the minerals (eg, magnesium) and protein in their food. It used to be that only older people had low stomach acid, but now it is seen in children, too. Try betaine hydrochloride and you may be pleasantly surprised.
A simple way to diagnose insufficient HCl in a person's body is just to take 1 capsule of the betaine hydrochloride on an empty stomach in the morning. Wait awhile and if there is no burning feeling, that means that the HCl is needed. Next day, try 2 caps and continue increasing until there is a burning feeling; then, reduce the dosage by one cap. Works for me!

I'm sorry to hear about this difficult situation. The symptoms you mentioned (related to behavior) are the ones I was intending to mention first as resulting from mercury toxicity in children. You may also find - Depression
- Laziness/Sleeping into the day
- Grumpyness and anger
- Itchy eyes
- Upper respiratory problems
- Frequent flu/cold -like symptoms
- Constipation
- Excessive thirst
- Urinating often during the night
- and many more...
It's also very hard to pin down how mercury will manifest in a person because, although it works the same chemically wherever it is, genetic "weaknesses" will cause the visible manifestations to differ from one person to another. This type of situation takes a lot of experimentation. If I were you, I'd start with Algin for 7 days. Keep a journal (very important) and see what changes you encounter. Then, if there is a change, stay the course assuming mercury is the cause and add in another mercury-related remedy, like Vitamin C and Vitamin E with Selenium . Go another 7 days, keep the journal updated daily. If no changes happens, try GTF Chromium (don't waste your time with chromium picolinate). ...7 days; journal and go from there. It may help (or hurt) to try Whey Protein ,especially if she's an O blood type. This can help balance blood sugar and provides a number of other benefits. I would also look into food allergies. Systematically eliminate all processed foods, even breakfast cereal; especially breakfast cereal. Then try removing milk, peanuts, tomatoes, and all fruit. The comment about low stomach acid is excellent. I had horrible heartburn when my amalgams were in unless I took Food Enzymes. I was amazed to find that adding acid to my meal eliminated the problem 90% of the time. I normally took the supplement about 1/2 of the way through the meal. Unfortunately, this "fact-finding" process can be long, but it is well worth it when you have a great relationship with her and the issues are gone. Everything has a cause, we just have to methodically find it. Let us know how it goes.

Hello Lynn,
Yes, it sounds like your daughter is experiencing mercury toxicity.
My daughter was having Hypoglycemia symptoms and was taking some natural supplements....which helped. And then in my research, I found that Hypoglycemia is linked to mercury toxicity.
I didn't think my daughter had any mercury because she didn't have any dental amalgam. But then I started reading about children born to people who have mercury.......I, personally have a ton of mercury, which I started finding that mercury easily travels from mother to child....also my daughter used to work with old computer monitors and when she was a child she had sealants on her teeth and of course, baby shots, etc.
She's taking Chlorella....which has helped tremendously, it helps to keep her blood sugar level......finally I got her to buy some Algin....there was an immediate improvement.....for instance, without her glasses, she is considered legally blind.......but after the first pill (Algin) she said she could see leaves on the trees and not just a green blob. Everything is improving for her. I'm trying to get her to start taking some cilantro.....to help mobilize more of the mercury out.
It sounds to me like your daughter is feeling very frustrated.....her anger is how she can express how badly she's feeling....she doesn't feel well and that's out of her control, which is very frustrating for her......and if her blood sugar is out-of-whack, then it's much harder for her to control herself. You can explain to her that you know she's not feeling well and you need her to tell you when she's yucky but that the screaming isn't helping either of you......do a number thing......1 - 10 being the worst....give her another way to express to you how bad she feels. And soon maybe when you ask her how she's feeling, she can say 1 or 2. I hope this makes sense!
I'm trying to write a testimony about my daughter's experience, so I can post it on here but I'm having some problems myself......excruciating headaches and my retention seems to be very low.....I have cracks in several of my mercury fillings and on the other teeth, the mercury is literally breaking off......so I'm trying to find a dentist for myself before this mercury kills me.
My daughter is taking several supplements right now....but the two that have helped the most is Algin and Chlorella. She said, Laura was sooo sweet, she answered all of my daughters questions and she was sooo helpful.
I hope this helps and don't get discouraged....I know how much it hurts but it's not her fault....it's the mercury!

Another question -
I have noticed that my daughter's permanent teeth especially her front teeth are very white but have streaks in them. I was wondering if they could be caused by mercury or even maybe floride.
Thanks!

Hi Lynn,
My daughter has white streaks on her teeth...so I'm not sure if I'm talking about what you are talking about.....but my dentist said it was because she had had a really high fever and the fever did it to her.
But someone else told me it was the antibiotic that she took (at that time) that left the white streaks. And I did some research on antibiotics and this was one of the side effects.
I've read about how mercury causes tattooing (in the mouth and soft tissue) and it's usually dark streaks.
You could do some research on flouride and see if it could possibly be that.

My friend has white stains on her teeth, and she said it's because the water was heavy with flouride where she was living as a child.
I don't know if that is the reason, but I thought I would pass o what she said!

I was able to find the following information:
---------------------------------
Can fluoride be dangerous?
Fluoride is safe in the amounts provided in water supplies but can be toxic in large amounts. Toxic levels are proportionate to weight. A lethal dose of fluoride for a 3-year-old child is 500 mg and would be less for a younger child or infant. Keep all products containing fluoride, such as toothpastes and mouthwashes, away from children. 3 If you think your child may have swallowed too much fluoride, call your local poison control center or the National Poison Control Hotline immediately at 1-800-222-1222.
Too much fluoride swallowed during the years of tooth development may cause spots or streaks of color on the outside of the teeth (fluorosis). Most of these are white, although some may appear brown.
Fluorosis develops during the first 8 years of childhood while the outer enamel layer of the teeth is still growing.
Fluorosis is not harmful. In rare, severe cases of stains caused by too much fluoride, a dentist may bleach the teeth to remove stains, or may bond resin fillings onto the tooth to cover stains.
Studies show that normal amounts of fluoride added to public water supplies and in oral health products certified by the American Dental Association are safe for children and adults.
-------------------------------
It seems that the streaks in her cause were probably caused by flouride treament at her dentist. She has never been on antibotics nor do we have flouride in our drinking water.

I've recently switched to a non-flouride toothpaste - best to err on the side of caution.
It amazes me that so many people believe "small" doses of a toxic substance aren't harmful. If something is toxic then, it seems to me, that it's best to be avoided altogether in human water, food, products etc.

Lynn R. I had teeth that were mottled with white spots when I was a child. My dentist said not to worry - a lot of kids had that. I found out recently that that is dental fluorosis and one of the first signs of fluoride poisoning. Years ago, they used to use fluoride to calm down a thyroid that was hyper. In other words, they used fluoride - a poison next to arsenic in toxicity, to subdue an over active thyroid. Can anyone tell me why there is such an epidemic of underactive thyroid conditioins today? If the mercury don't get ya, the fluoride will. Anyway, with 1ppm fluoride put into the water to supposedly strengthen teeth (HAHA) just think. That water is used to water the garden from which you get your veggies. The cows that you get your milk and meat from drink it. Have you ever read how much fluoride is in juices? An amazing amount! They water the grapes/apples/etc with fluoride water. There are places in India where there is a lot of fluoride in the water naturally. Whole villages of people there are bent over and crippled because of it! Fluoride is used as rat poison! Some people are depressed. Maybe they should add an anti-depressant to the water supply to benefit those people too. And, I am hypothyroid. Let's add Synthroid to the water supply for people like me. I am sure you can see the absurdity of it all. Unless you are in charge of the poison , er, ahem, fluoride supply and/or stand to gain monetarily from poisoning a whole population with it.

It's the flouride that causes those white spots. The body only needs a small amount of flouride and if you live in an area that puts flouride in the water, you will get too much. My child has them on her teeth (we didn't have flouride in our water at the time and my pediatrician had me give her flouride supplements! Another thing that I did while trusting a Dr) I have also stopped using toothpaste that contains flouride and have a filter on my sink that takes out the flouride. I have a lot less scraping from the dental hygenist since I have started using "good" toothpaste.

Fluoride has been associated with bone cancer, osteoperosis, and lower IQs.
Fluoride in the form in which it is added to the water supply in about 50% of U.S. cities was once considered a toxic waste and is a by-product of aluminum manufacturing and fertilizer manufacturing. These industries who once paid to dispose of it, now get paid to dispose of it by selling it to your city. The fellow who orchestrated this legal manuever went to work for a fluoride-producing industry after leaving the U.S. government.
Because fluoride is collected from smoke stack scrubbers (among other sources), it often contains other heavy metals including but not limited to lead and mercury.

I have a friend who boldly told her doctor (when it was suggested she give her newborn flouride tablets), and I quote: "Do you mean to tell me that God forgot to put flouride in the breast milk?" If God didn't put it in the breast milk, my baby doesn't need it. Words of Wisdom for us all !! I looked up the mineral flourine, and it's found in green tea, so she drank that (decaf of course) instead. The child is 6 years old now and has no cavities. They use non-flouride toothpaste only. Fluoride-Related Symptoms- Weight loss, chronic fatigue not alleviated by rest, general weakness, depression
- Headaches, bone, joint and muscle pain, muscle spasms
- Brittle bones and teeth, tinnitus
- Anemia, acidosis, reddish spots on skin, slight bleeding from nose lining
- Blurred vision, dizziness, poor balance, numbness and tingling of extremities
- Depression, difficulty concentrating, loss of mental alertness, nervousness
- Excessive thirst, kidney inflammation, frequent urination
- Nausea, diarrhea, constipation, blood in stools, flatulence, abdominal pain
- Damage to internal organs, and to cellular biochemistry & thyroid functioning
How To Detox FluorideDuring sauna-based detoxification, and during heavy exercise, fluorine appears to mobilize from body stores. In sufficient quantities, such dumping can cause the symptoms of acute fluorine poisoning and have serious consequences. The fluorine re-entering the circulation can cause acidity (possibly hydrofluoric acid or related compound). Several measures have been found helpful adjuncts to sauna detox and general alleviation of fluoride-intoxication symptoms: - Avoidance of acidic foods, such as citrus fruits
- Large quantities of supplemental calcium carbonate , which not only helps to de-acidify the body, but also binds fluorine --assisting in safe excretion of fluorine, and also helping replenish body calcium stores depleted by fluorine.
- Ingestion of a tablespoonful of lecithin twice daily, which helps protect nerve sheaths and kidney linings from corrosion/acidity
- Deep breathing of clean, fresh air when the body feels acidic and during the detox procedures, to help remove fluorine through respiration, and relieve some of the stress on the kidneys.
- Ingestion of copious amounts of fluorine-free water, to dilute body concentrations of fluoride and facilitate safe excretion
- Use of Stellaria spp. (common chickweed ) as a tea. This plant, a common garden weed which is edible in apparently unlimited quantities without toxic effect, helps soothe inflamed kidneys. It should be gathered from areas free from animal contact and from pesticide/auto exhaust drift. Washed thoroughly, it can then be dried (maintaining color and activity) by placing in open container in a refrigerator, turning gently every day or so until thoroughly dried. It can then be stored in dark containers for a few months. Dose about half to full teaspoon of dried plant per 1 cup boiling water. Bring to boil, simmer a few minutes, then steep for 15-20 minutes. One or two swallows at a time as desired.
- The sauna used in detoxification should either be "dry sauna," or if an Indian-type sweat lodge is used, then fluoride-free water should be used. Steam saunas using tap water may, in fluoride-containing water areas, add to the problem rather than helping to resolve it.
- Hair loss due to fluoride poisoning (also useful in treatment of organic mercury-related hair loss). After gently washing with "natural" shampoo and rinsing, gently rub into scalp "organic" cold-pressed olive oil to which has been added: a bit of strong nettle (Urtica sp, commonly available in health food stores) tea, and dissolved vitamin/mineral supplements as desired (not too much). After rubbing into scalp and hair, wrap head (paper towels, cloth, etc.) for about 20 minutes, then wash out.

I noticed this morning that my daughter's sealants on her back molars (baby teeth) are turning very dark - almost black in color. Her old dentist said they may stain but she only got them 14-months ago.
Could this be from the issue from too much flouride or could it be from mercury poisoning?
Thanks!

I've had my daughter on the Algin since last weekend - on and off. It was a slow start because she couldn't swallow pills.
I tried to mix it in water & we ended up wasting alot because it got suck to the bottom of the glass no matter what we did. I tried putting it in her food & she would try to find it. After a couple days I gave her a challenge of trying to learn how to swallow pills & by Wednesday she learned by herself using a straw. Sometimes it takes her a while to get the pill down but she is doing a great job.
In reference to the Algin - I have noticed that she is more calmer. She told me that she doesn't feel so angry & upset inside. She also seems to be listening more.
At this point - should I continue her on the Algin? How do I know when to stop? I don't think she could handle taking anything additional to the Algin at this time.
Thanks!

Hi Lynn, I think that's a great sign that the Algin is helping. When I had my amalgams still in, irritability and anger were big problems for me. Getting the mercury out has completely changed me. What's really interesting is that if I eat any fish, I can feel those old feelings of irritability start up again. But if I take 3 to 4 capsules of Algin, they start to go away in about 15 minutes. If it were me, I would definitely continue letting her take the Algin. Based on the things you told me on the phone, she's most likely been heavily exposed to mercury and it will take some time to detox. Right now, the only other thing I'd suggest trying would be to have her start taking lots of vitamin C. If she doesn't want to swallow anything else, there's a really good vitamin C powder you can get called Vitamin C Ascorbates. Unlike a lot of other powdered vitamin C I've seen, this one provides the added benefits of citrus bioflavonoids (they help the body utilize the vitamin C) and it doesn't contain any sugar. You can mix the powder into juice or even water...it has a slight orange flavor and since it's buffered with minerals, it's not acidic. I'd try taking 3 to 4,000mg a day if you can. Vitamin C will greatly help the body in so many ways and it's particularly helpful for mercury detox.

Do you know what was in the sealants? I personally don't think they are a good idea. I had some as a child, but if I could go back and not have them, I would. I don't think anything unnecessary in the mouth is good and I don't think they stopped me getting cavities. I'd be interested in other peoples opinions on this.

Thanks for the information, Laura. I will definately get my daughter some Vitamin C.
As far as the sealants are concerned, I do not know what kind that were used. They were put in by our "old" dentist but they probably wouldn't tell us what kind they used even if we asked. They felt mercury was harmless (which is why we no longer go there).
One good thing is that the sealants are on her baby teeth not her permanent teeth. I believe they are on her 6-year-old molars.
Thanks!

Lynn,
I think that I'll try one of my daughters on Algin (if I can get her to-she is stubborn) She is easily "set off'. She doesn't have amalgams either, but also had all the vaccines. Thanks for reminding me that amalgams aren't the only source.

You could make her a juice drink with the algin dissolved in it. Although if she discovers you doing this behind her back she may suspect you're poisoning her! Teenagers!
