Russ, I have never seen an "inverted" cross related to Catholicism in anything EVER!! And I wonder if you are using a picture that has in fact been "adjusted". Because this is the most bizzare thing I have witnessed yet. I have been a Catholic for over ten years now and nothing whatsoever of this kind has ever been seen or related to Catholicism or the Pope. And something like this would stand out a mile and it does. If I'd seen this, I'd have been stunned. I have NEVER seen this and I have certainly seen him plenty of times on TV and even live when I went to Rome (the Vatican).
Please be careful you are using undoctored pictures when representing another person's faith. I have also come across plenty of ongoing anti-catholic propoganda on the internet, an absolute bounty of it. Perfect for anybody to use and abuse to misrepresent a person's faith. I have contacted the owner of a website when seeing horrible and completely false statements made on the Catholic faith and "corrected" this person. Even when she knew the truth, she refused to remove the lie from her website, because it suited her purposes and she wished to continue mispresenting the faith.
Coming on here and seeing this is actually for me, most upsetting. This man carried around a burden of suffering himself for many many years and never lost his faith. Prayed for over 4 hours daily and carried around a crucifix (NOT inverted either) with a Christ full of suffering himself and continually spoke of Christ and pointed the youth always towards Him. Kept strong on all aspects of the gospel, even in the light of the liberal hatred towards him because of it. Gave the downtrodden the comforting words of Christ and was an inspiration.
This is perfect in this day and age to distort a person's faith, whether by pictures, or by words. It can be easily done.
