For sleep problems, it is important to limit caffeine. I don't drink any coffee after noon, and drink just 2 cups in the morning.
I agree with this. I didn't realize how much caffeine affected me until I started to drink less. I am more careful as to when I drink my last cup. I have been keeping it down to half a cup before 9am and it has helped so much. I do however get up every night to urinate, which interrupts my sleep.
I suggest that people take 2,000 units a day of vitamin D. Some doctors advise taking more than this, however many feel that 2,000 IU a day is the highest safe dosage to take on a long term basis without having blood levels monitored.
I have been taking 5,000IU for a good 9 months almost every day. Like you said though, I wouldn't do this unless you are under a doctor's supervision. I just had some blood tests, so I will see what my levels are at now.
Checking vitamin D levels is pretty important. Mine were about 35, which isn't that great. My naturopath told me there was a patient of his who used a tanning bed every day. Her natural levels of vitamin D were 140! She was doing well though and her body was naturally producing it in the tanning bed. He thinks vitamin D levels should be on the upper limit of "normal".
I need to just move to a sunnier climate. Taking pills is getting old. haha
