I did a really quick check into what a Low TSH and low T4 means and this website says it is a pituitary problem. This would be considered secondary hypothyroidism.

If that is the case, then that makes perfect sense. Mercury loves to enter the pituitary.

Believe it not, but my pituitary does not function properly either. I have diabetes insipidus which causes my body to be unable to regulate water balance properly. I am constantly thirsty with frequent urination. No matter how much water I drink, I become dehydrated because my body is tossing it out. I take medication for this and it has helped me immensely.

Dr. Cutler actually discusses this in his book. People with mercury poisoning get partial diabetes insipidus from the mercury in the pituitary. I almost cried when I read that!

DMPS is much more expensive from what I have seen and I don't think insurance covers it. It is considered an experimental drug in the US and has not been approved by the FDA. I highly doubt an insurance company would cover an experimental drug.
