This is my opinion which may not be the opinion of the owner of this forum.
Why there will never be a cure for cancer:
Cancer is the biggest money maker the world has ever known. If we found a cure tomarrow. This is what would happen.
1) Every hospital that specializes in just treating cancer would have to close, or be bought out to be run by another hospital. 2) Every hospital that closes would have to fire all the doctors and staff. 3) Any outside business that made a living off maintaining that hospital (floors, AC, Lighting, Bio waste, Garbage, etc..) would have to lay off people 4) The Rad machines would become useless million dollar machines.
Now that is just the hospital end of it. Now from the drug end of it.
1) All pharmaceutical companies would have to stop cancer research. 2) They would have to lay off all in the cancer research department. 3) Drugs already selling would become useless. 4) Drug reps would be laid off. 5) Some pharmacies would either lay off employees, or just close. 6) Drug bottling and shipping department would have to lay off.
But there is more. Education area:
1) Schools that teach how to treat cancer would lose every class. No one paying means no income from those departments. 2) Professors of medicine and cancer research would be laid off. 3) And staff assistants would be laid off. 4) People who spent time and money to get degrees in this field would be useless. 5) Some med schools would close laying off all kinds of people. 6) Those outside businesses who helped maintain the school and their equipment would either lay off or close.
People who make the Rad machines:
1) The Rad machines would become worthless. 2) The hospitals would try to return them. 3) The research department would close, all employees there get laid off. 4) Any schools that teach how to use Rad machines would close those classes and lay off all involved. 5) The whole business of making Rad machines would stop, and all companies that made them would close. 6) All those who made parts for those machines to be built would be laid off. 7) All those who maintained the machines would be laid off.
Insurance:
1) No more cancer insurance. 2) All in the departments that sell cancer insurance would be laid off. 3) Insurance reps would be laid off. 4) Some insurance companies would close.
Wall street:
1) Every company that dealt in cancer that you could by stock from, their stock would bottom out. 2) People would try to resell there stock back to the companies which would put even a bigger burden on the company. 3) So many stocks falling all at once would put wall street in a panic. 4) If we did not have a crash, it would take many years to recover.
So we are talking about at least 100,000 jobs lost. And billions of dollars lost.
But the public is not the only people who make the money while their is no cure for cancer. Remember all money made is taxed. So the governments around the world would lose billions in collected taxes if we were to find a cure for cancer. For some governments that are already having a hard time. They would fall. A government cannot run if it cannot make enough money.
