I read in some of the other posts that algin is derived from kelp. Kelp is high in iodine, isn't it? I have also read on other websites that a person with autoimmune thyroid disease, like me, should be very careful about the amount of iodine they eat. Too much may cause a lot of problems. Is this true - or just more hype to keep us hypo and taking their pills?

I'm extremely far from being anywhere near an expert but I heard algin was good for thyroid problems.
I'm taking kelp tablets to try and get some algin in me at this very moment.

Thanks for your reply, Steve. Do you have an AUTOIMMUNE thyroid disease, ie: Grave's Disease, or Hashimoto's Thyroiditis? From what I have read, iodine is good for thyroid disease, unless it is an autoimmune disease, in which case, any iodine you take should be within cerain limits. I hope you're right though. I would sure like to be able to take algin.
