What is a way to keep numbness away while waiting to have fillings removed (I am still reading Dr. Huggins' book to make sure I do it right). Russ, you mentioned flax oil. Is this my best bet, or are there other things I could be doing. Magnesium is helping, but I keep needing more of it(scared to go overboard) I do take fish oil. I have read many times that fish oil has no mercury. Is this correct in your experience? Anyway, the fish oil does NOT seem to be helping my joint problems at all. They are getting worse.

Have you tried glucosamine? While it doesn't directly do anything to the nerves, it stimulates regrowth of connective tissue and tendons and has been known to relieve symptoms of RSI and arthritis, which include pins and needles and numb.
I used to take this regularly and it really helped with the tingles, but I was taking the sulphite version, which I think was causing other problems.
There is Glucosamine Hydrochloride which can be used by non-diabetics instead of Glucosamine Sulphate. I haven't tried it because I have PCOS which is thought to be caused by Insulin resistance, so I daren't, but if you have no diabetic-type problem it might be worth a try? Once I've had the fillings out I'll be taking it again as the sulpher then might help detox.

Something else that might help is to keep those parts of your body prone to numbess warm. This helps the flow of blood. If you find your hand goes numb when on the computer, you might want to wear a glove or get a mousemat with a wrist support. I have one of those and I think it helps.
If you have standard bedsheets, you might want to change them to fleece (if your partner can endure it, if you have one). I've found that standard bedsheets get cold when I move out of position, but fleece is nice and warm and soft and that has helped me a lot by preserving body heat. Also I find I am more likely to wake up with numb thigh if I wear a nightdress instead of a fleece trousers/pants.
Gentle exercises to increase blood flow can help aswell. I try to take a walk every day for about an hour. When I get lazy and skip a few days, I get a return of the tingles. Sitting still in one position for any length of time gives me problems.
A water bottle in winter can help aswell to keep your body warm.
I've heard that some people get benefit from professional massage aswell.
Warm baths can also help relieve muscle pains, so if I feel I've overdone it any time, I take a bath as soon as I can and that helps stiffness.
I am having a return of tingles at the moment and I might have to take the glucosamine sulphate and just suffer the unwanted side-effects I get from the sulphate to try and improve this problem for a while, and then shift to deal with the other problems. It's not easy and can be quite a juggling act sometimes!

What is a way to keep numbness away while waiting to have fillings removed I would try Flax Seed Oil. It depends on what the actual cause is, but for what I believe is the most common cause of pain w/mercury, flax oil should help, although the results may take several days or a week to see. I do take fish oil. I have read many times that fish oil has no mercury. Is this correct in your experience? No. Many fish oils do contain small amounts of mercury. I'm not sure about the status of oil from NSP. We had some contact with NSP about this last month and Laura posted about it on this forum. I'll ask her to post a link to that information here. If I remember correctly, the NSP products have no measurable traces of mercury. If they do, the source batches are rejected. Anyway, the fish oil does NOT seem to be helping my joint problems at all. They are getting worse. You may want to try upping vitamin Vitamin C with Bioflavonoids and stopping the fish oil and see what happens. There are also some excellent forulas for joint issues that I've used with amazing success. I'll post info here for you to see (I actually used to two together and it worked great): Joint Ease and Glucosamine Make sure you're having no sugar as that can cause joint pain itself. Hope this helps.

The Glucosamine NSP has is Glucosamine Hydrochloride. Regarding mercury in NSP's fish oils...below is the reply I received from NSP's Health Sciences department regarding the presence of mercury in their products: We follow strict guidelines for heavy metal testing, including California's Proposition 65. This legislation was created to ensure that any product sold within the state would not contain hazardous materials at harmful concentrations. It is the most restrictive law in the country. Any lot failing to pass any of the established acceptable test values will be rejected. Our Quality Assurance Department uses the inductively coupled plasma-mass spectrometer (ICP-MS) to screen raw material for unwanted compounds. This device can detect presence of elements down to parts per million.
It probably isn?t possible to have 100% mercury free products, although some products may have undetectable levels of mercury depending on the sensitivity of the detection equipment. One good thing about the Super Omega-3 EPA and DHA is that the fish oils in Nature's Sunshine Products are highly purified using molecular distillation. This is the only process that can remove contaminants that could be present in the oils. Molecular distillation involves distillation in high vacuum. It uses low temperature to minimize damage to heat sensitive molecules that would be damaged by using purification methods that use higher temperatures. This method considerably lowers the amounts of heavy metals and other contaminants like PCBs.
Sincerely, Gina Benson NSP Scientist Health Sciences Department
