I saw on another post this is good to add to supplements, however, I cannot take the oil form - I tried it years ago and gagged every time. I know it is about 1-2 tbsp but does anyone know how many capsules that is? I also read to add borage oil 1 tspn for every tbspn of flax. I got flax capssules - not sure how many are equal to tbsp adn 1,000 mg borage oil. 3 softgels = 1335 mg omega 3
388 mg omega 6 437 mg omega 9 2-6 mg lignan

I just read up on it and I really need to take the oil - I would need like 20 capsules to equal 2 tbspn. Take 2 tbspn. day with cottage cheese is the recommendation - and 1 tspn of borage oil for every tbspn of flax. I will use up the capsules then get the oil and try to stomach it.

I like to use it (although usually use olive oil) mixed with lemon juice and Bragg's liquid amino's for salad dressing...

I'm not sure if this information would help...

Flax Seed Oil

I'm currently taking 1 of these twice per day:

Omega-3 EPA

A teaspoon is basically 5 ml. A tablespoon is 15 ml, so 2 tablespoons is 30, yes 30 1 ml softgels. You don't need to take 2 tablespoons though. A teaspoon or two each day is enough. even one teasoon worth though is 5 one ml softgels. Why can't you take flxseed oil? the taste? You could try mixing in a drop or two of a good tasting oil(cinnamon-cassia?)then you might tolerate it better.

Yes I think costwise it would make more sense to just suck it up and down 2 tspns a day. Is that all I need in terms of omegas? How about cod liver oil or something? I'm hoping you say no because my supplement list is starting to put me in the poor house. Just kidding - I'll take what I need to take in order to get healthy.

Now Russ I am assuming that the omega 3 EPA is mercury free - I see it comes from fish but is it tested? I'm sure that is a stupid question considering the forum but I ask that for everything now. I can't afford to be naive anymore.

We had a whole debate here about fish oil vs flaxseed oil. I took the flaxseed oil side. There are pluses and minuses to each. Whichever you take, make sure it is refrigerated, and that the fish oil is tested to be mercury free(both oils in capsules can become rancid much too easily at room temperature). I think fish oil is also beneficial, but that I prefer to get my fish oil from eating oily fish low in mercury such as sardines, herring, or salmon. Others think that eating even very low mercury fish is a bad idea. I eat just small amounts(less than 14 ounces a week) of very low mercury fish. Check out this website to see how low the mercury level is in sardines(perhaps 1/20 th that of typical tuna?)

http://www.gotmercury.org/article.php?list=type&type=75

If you are that worried about mercury in fish oil, you could get salmon oil. Salmon tends to be very low in mercury and also has the highest amounts of omega 3 of all the fish oils. The downside? Salmon oil is more expensive than oil made from cheaper fish(I wonder if sardines and mackerel are often used to make the cheaper fish oils.)

I know Laura has had this question asked before and I know the answer was good, but I don't remember specifically what it was. I am currently taking the Omega-3 myself.

NSP products meet California's horribly-strict standards for purity (non-contamination) which has a lot to do with NSP's overall quality. (Many vegetables grown in California don't meet their own standards.)

I'll check with Laura about your question.

Hi Mercuryfree
The oils are very important. They help to repair the damage that has been done the nerves. I can't handle liquid flax but I do take the pill form. I take 4000 mg every day, 2000 mg fish oil, vit e, and evening primrose oil 2000 mg. I also take a couple of spoons of coconut oil. I use olive oil in all that I cook. The oils are very beneficial for you right now. BTW I have tasted alot of stuff as of late that has a real funky taste to it...hold your nose and swallow. I just keep thinking how much better I will feel one day soon while it is going down. Hang in there and take things slow.

Unfortunately, we are about 2 days from leaving for a convention and I don't think Laura had time to get the answer yet, but she will.

I mix a couple of teaspoons of flaxseed oil to my acidophilus yoghurt, which I have about 2-3 times a day (which adds up to 1-2 tablespoons generally). It gives it a nice texture/flavour, really delicious. You can also mix it with cottage cheese. it is far better doing it this way, and works better too apparently. Taking it straight is not the best idea.

I'd get the oil and refridgerate it and add it to yoghurts or cottage cheese. Good for the skin too!

Sounds like I can handle that - Ilike cottage cheese. That's a plan. I already bought the capsules so I will finish them up and then get the liquid. Thanks, Bex!

Speaking of skin, I'm amazed at how my face has broken out in well I'm not sure what they are - not pimples but more like sores or boils ONLY on my jaw line in the back where my molars were. It is just another sign that yes mercury is stored in my body and especially (well why not) in my jaw - huh? causing TMJ symptoms. My massue (sp?) had pesticide poisoning years ago but before she was sure she got her amalgams out (without proper protocol) and her whole mouth and face broke out and when she saw my jaw she said - they bleed don't they? Yes - I try to pop one when I first got it thinking it was a pimple (which I shouldn't pop anyway I know) and there wasn't any puss only blood. I'm just hoping that getting the mercury out willhelp my daily headaches and TMJ issues. I've had a headache every day since removal - either due to mercury or die off. Either one is good - well if it means mercury is leaving which I'm sure it is right now.

No problem mercuryfree. The flaxseed oil is actually recommended to mix with protein food of some kind anyway for effectiveness. Makes sense I guess. You can also take organic flaxseed itself if you want.

Well, believe it or not, mercury is stored in the jawbone! So what you've said here makes perfect sense. And so often symptoms are worse after removal than before for quite a few people. The body works at attempting to dump mercury and also heal areas it's affected. Healing symptoms usually coincincide with the areas that have caused you most problems during amalgam toxicity. It's not pleasant to experience and not a speedy recovery.

In fact, I complained to one (very good doctor in mercury) about my worsening and exaggerated problems after removal and he said "whilst your being poisoned by amalgams when they are still in your mouth, your body tends to be in a state of simply trying to hang in there and it cannot assert itself properly" "when amalgams are removed, the body begins asserting itself and you can feel and look wretched".

So sometimes it's something you have to endure.

Also, during detox of mercury, my skin used to break out on my face quite often and I'd also get this drawn look as well. I'd go very pale and my cheeks would get kind of pulled in looking. I knew when it was coming on, it was like a dark cloud descending and I'd get this horrible feeling of being filled up with poison. I now realise that was simply more stored mercury leaking out and filling me back up again. I'd then eventually erupt into an excretion explosion (crying and salivating), the it would settle after a few hours of this and I'd have a patch of feeling like something had been removed. I'd feel better. ONly to have it build up again.

This was normal for me for a few years. I could have sped this up and made it much easier had I done Cutler's protocol early on!

Hi Jeanie, yes this was a big problem for the way my body handled toxins. However, mercury is a classic one for causing salivating episodes. My body was unable to deal with toxins normally and usually I would erupt in a terrible manner and have these excess crying/salivating fits. They would often last hours, sometimes almost the day (on and off).

My face would sometimes wind up swollen from it all. I'd get headaches from the pressure. It was basically like watching it all erupt out of my face. I used to wish it could be some other way, but no, that's the way my system handled the mercury. Probably a sign of a screwed up detox pathway. Which seems to be confirmed in my liver pathway tests. Either genetic uniqueness or it was caused by mercury in the first place (which came first?).

NOt everybody gets this though. I've not really come across someone else who has. But in case there is anybody out there who gets it, to let them know I had it too! One of the top doctors in New Zealand (dealing in mercury) told me it was classic mercury poisoning (tears and salivating). He was in no doubts I had it. My hair test results were not good, they confirmed I was having a big problem with retention toxicity. Showing every sign of poisoning, but little sign of mercury in the hair. Which can indicate retention toxicity. Unable to properly push the mercury out (into excretory areas like hair).

Everybody should have a level of mercury as we are exposed to it daily in some manner. When you have the symptoms of mercury poisoning, but hardly any level of it, it can be a bad sign. Usually those who have such low levels are the most difficult to cure. High levels are also bad, but if the levels are high, it can also mean the body is actively trying to push the mercury OUT into the hair and other areas too.

So it's very much about how to read a hair test and pick up the signs. Rather than take it at face value and not understand what the levels may actually indicate in that individual.

High can of course also mean severe poisoning and often a high level may show after an acute exposure (sudden and high) or someone still has amalgams. Or the person is actively excreting the mercury (or combination).

Low may mean low mercury and it may not be mercury. But it may mean the person is easily affected by even low levels. Or it may mean the mercury is bound up tightly and isn't being actively excreted and there could be a load of it in there, but it's not showing up....

This is why it makes it difficult to evaluate mercury toxicity. Mineral levels are apparently a good indicator as to what's going on. Certain mineral levels are affected by mercury and there is often a pattern there and that in itself can be a sign too, if a person is experienced in reading it.

I haven't done a hair test in a long long time. My blood levels were extremely high after a DMPS challenge test, but I've heard that isn't very exact. Just shows you dump a lot. But obviously there was a lot to be dumped! I knew nothing about chelating at that point, but had had all my amalgams out. (And not the right way).

I, too, have had lots of jaw issues. Some were structural, but I still grind at times. And have noticed times of salivating more. I use to have to wear a bite splint to even eat with and that was awful. Then had to wear braces. Now I can eat without the brace.

I cry a lot, but just wrote it off to being the emotional type and hormonal. It seems like a literal release valve. I'm sure it is that, too... I cry happy or sad...

I tend to not want to dwell on these things, but I have got to keep a focus on this. I'm going to need to use baby steps to get back on track, though. Change some habits...add some supplements and slow detoxers. Otherwise I just can't handle it. I'm back to the hot flash part of my cycle so certainly sweating....

You have developed a lot of insight about all this Bex and JK and, of course, Russ. Thanks for sharing. I'm learning a lot on here. I seem to need to hear the information repeatedly to get it back into my head. And am taking things that I need from everyone elses experiences. I wish I could contribute more that way, but am afraid I'm going to have to get my own act together first. I'm beginning to go downhill, though, and can't waste any more time.
