On another board they have a "Post of the Month" where you nominate posts that you think are good, and it is the quality of the post and not who posted it that is rewarded.

I am not here to win a popularity contest by catering to the comfort of others. If ikester, for example, wants to go on a rampage because the evidence proved he was wrong, and people want to blame me because I posted the evidence, then I cannot take their unhappyness as evidence of anything but being unhappy with reality.
