Awww....that sad face... How could I not respond to that?

Mordred: What I don't agree with, or really just see as a logical fallacy, is citing that because a prophecy came to fruition it is therefore evidence of the existence of a creator - namely, God. Arguably speaking the words of prophecy could have been written by the devil or some other malicious being. How do you know it's from God? Just because some words say X will happen and it later does happen does not verify who the alleged author of the writing is. If I found a slip of paper on the street which said 'In exactly two days from now xxx is going to take place across the world. Signed, Guenivere' I have no way of knowing that someone named Guenivere really wrote it. I just know that someone accurately predicted something and claims to be someone.

Jeanie: Those are good points. I don't think every prophecy even is of God. But not needing to prove to myself His existence, I do take what we have been warned about for literally decades to heart. Within our own church we have been given warning (for over 100 years) to prepare for times of economic unrest and to learn to produce our own food, store it, etc. etc. We are in a very cool and even elite period of the earth's life now when things are getting and going to get much tougher in a lot of ways. The reason I said elite is because believing we existed before we came here as spirits, the strongest were kept for this time to come to earth. My stance is that the same God who spoke to the ancient prophets (Biblical or other spiritual leaders? We also believe there were prophets here on the American continent during certain times, at least, and use the Book of Mormon as a companoin to the Bible so not as strict on that one) also speaks to us today!! The Book of Mormon was actually written for our day and didn't come forth till the early 1800's and its wording has not been changed aside from its translation from reformed egyptian to English (and very other language out there just about). I feel God in my every day life.... When I don't I am the one who has drawn from him not the other way around. My belief system as I personally call it answers all my questions. Concerning the creation, we do have more detail on that from the Books of Moses and Abraham which are not in the Bible. And regarding evolution....we know from inspiration that it was quite literal. As far as how long it took to happen, that is another story. We are told we will know at some point, but it is not important to our salvation whether you accept the earth as young, or that creation took 6,000 years or even longer. Personally my thoughts are that it likely fell somewhere in between 6,000 to longer. Actually I incline more toward older...I guess its called old earth creationism. I do believe, though, that Adam came as a man as he was and had no need to evolve. In fact - humans have DEVOLVED since Adam. He was quite the specimen.....He lived to be almost 1000 years old.
