Be very careful with using antifungals etc. I did well enough on the diet alone, but when I introduced antifungals, I not only killed too much yeast at once, but also released the metals stored in the yeast and did myself much damage.
It overloaded my gut/liver, and made me acutely sick. This was not a good thing at all and I had to use chelating agents in an attempt to get it back out.
Diet allows your body to more slowly reduce yeast and deal with toxins, much more in its own time. Sometimes, antifungals can do more than what the body can handle and it's forced into dealing with too many toxins (for some). It depends on your overall condition, but you can really make yourself very toxic in the process.
I find that becaues my condition causes a continual yeast problem, that taking antifungals for me has been fruitless, because my immunity is low enough that the yeast continues to come back to a point regardless. So it's a case of ongoing symptoms which keep me very sick. I had to leave them out and simply stick to a healthy strict diet, which reduced yeast, but there was not the ongoing die off that even caused me bouts of vomiting a number of times. My liver had to cope with ongoing toxins from this process. A certain amount of yeast may naturally exist and each time it's killed off by antifungals, it tends to return over and over, because the real problem remains. Then, you become more toxic and more suseptible to yeast and so the die off continues.
This is just what I have experienced and may not be the same for others. Antifungals were NEVER a wise move for me. But they maybe for some people. Candida diets were the way to go, but I also had to eliminate high carbohydrate foods, that means no grain at all, no fruit and no high carb vegetables. That's just how it is for me and I know my limits.
Right now, I am having to start again because I cheated after being so good for so many months. It happens sometimes and I always realise the problem is there because the underlying condition is there. I cannot expect NOT to relapse, if the underlying problem has not been dealt with. Whatever that problem is exactly, is not so easily fixed! So I do what I can to live around the problem and eat as well as I can.
The worst culprits for me are - coffee, milk, grains (even non wheat/gluten too, yet they are usually fine for others), fruit, potatoes/carrots/peas/corn, sugar/honey, etc. I am limited, but thankful I can still eat lots of proteins and good fats, which keep me going. I could eat more vegetables though, but as it's winter here, not so keen on salads etc.
