Does mercury deplete magnesium from the body. I have problems with numbness. If I take a fair bit of magnesium each day, I seem to be o.k., but if I forget it, I start to go numb - even if I forget it for only one day. This seems to be getting worse. Also, what is a definitive test for mercury in the body?

Does mercury deplete magnesium from the body. Absolutely. Daily magnesium supplements are standard issue for anyone with mercury exposure. For the numbness, you might also try taking Flax See Oil with Lignans . This helps with nerve sheathing issues, etc. You may also want to view this video: http://movies.commons.ucalgary.ca/mercury/Also, what is a definitive test for mercury in the body? There are none, per se. You need a series of blood tests done and a doctor who knows what signatures to look for to identify mercury. All of the blood tests are standard. Finding a doctor that understands mercury toxicity is the tough part. If you can't find a doctor who knows about these tests, I would highly recommend this book which you can actually loan to your doctor. It will tell him what tests to administer and how to use them to diagnose mercury toxicity: Amalgam Illness: Diagnosis and Treatment by Dr. Andrew Cutler This is an excellent book which is easy enough to read for anyone yet technical enough that any doctor will find it absolutely compelling. I actually keep this on my desk as a reference for answering questions and working with people. Hope this helps.

You may want to consider trying Hawthorn Berries to stimulate the peripheral circulation to the extremities. Ginkgo Biloba or even a Ginkgo & Hawthorn combination would be good to promote circulation to your hands and feet...it also helps achy joints too. Before I got my amalgams out, this was a real problem for me, but it has since improved a lot. However, if I over-do the mercury detoxing, the numbness and tingling come back. If I take 4-6 algin capsules, it usually goes away fairly quickly (less than an hour or so). Hope this helps <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />
