Hi - I am new to the forum. I was recently diagnosed with mercury toxicity in April. I had a horrible experience with the doc treating me - he had me taking 250 mg DMSA daily, DMPS IV weeekly, infrared sauna weekly, and Tyler's Merucry Detox. Oh and a homeopathic detox kit. At the time I had 9 fillings and he told me I didn't have to get them out. I was okay for about 4 weeks - actually feeling good. But then Bam! All symptoms came back with a vengenance. Which I now know is redistribution. I stopped all treatment after researching the topic more and getting some books. Two weeks ago I got 2 fillings out and a week later got 2 more. Thursday I will be getting the rest done. My dentist wanted to do it in phases because I have bad TMJ issues. My question is: Did anyone have tooth pain on and off (like 2 days fine and then it hurt and then be okay again) after their fillings were replaced? I had the Clifford test done and the fillings are compatiable with me but I have some pain once in a while - I don't really chew on that side. I'm afraid the other side will be the same way and I will have nowhere to chew. I will not take aspirin so I just stick it out. Oh - I went back on Thursday for a bite adjustment and he said it was fine.
One other thing - I grind my teeth really bad but have a special nightguard called a NTI where your teeth never meet. I don't wake up with the pain it comes on throughout the day. Also, my teeth would hurt alot as one of the symptoms of mercury poisoning. Could it just be my teeth detoxing? I am not chelating - only vitamins and mega vit c. ANy advice?
Thanks

Are you sure the problem is pain from your teeth and not your gums? I have a very bad candida flare up after I had many amalgams replaced. Are you on a low carbohydrate diet? Are you taking antifungal herbs? if not, then you should consider doing so.

This is not abnormal. The tooth undergoes trauma from the drilling and replacing of another material. I have heard of others experiencing post amalgam removal pain also. Just imagine the trauma it's subjected to and sometimes it takes time to heal too. This happened to me last year. I had some composites redone in cerec porcelain and one of my teeth started to hurt sometime after. Not straight away. And once it started, it would intensify and go on smetimes for most of the day. I was very concerned that the nerve maybe dying....I had to nurse my teeth and quit eating anything that made it worse.
I would advise you to be careful of what you eat (e.g. nuts etc), anything like that may apply that kind of pressure. The teeth may need time to settle (the nerve). I don't tend to get it anymore (cross fingers) and if anything starts up, I won't eat on that side, and/or I resort to softer foods.
I have heard of others having big problems from it and sometimes for months. But it's also a good idea to make sure everything is even. That your bite is even and you can bite properly, rather than feeling some of the materials in the teeth are too high and need to be filed down lower. Sometimes adjustments can help, but if it's not that, it maybe just post sensitivity and this is not uncommon.
If it has happened before to you with mercury poisoning, then this surge of symptoms and pain, maybe related to detoxing yes. I myself have had symptoms recur from my body starting to detox mercury and sometimes the strangest ones can return and intensify worse than before. But still nurse your teeth and be careful of what you eat! No nuts or seeds, or too hard foods. And chew on the better side of your mouth if you can (unless of course it's both sides).
I hope that things will settle in time.

Wow - I love such quite responses. Thanks. Yes I am on low carb diet - I take antifungals and probiotics. I am also gluten free. Yes, Candida is a problem for me too. Trouble is how do you know the difference between the two - symptoms are rather similar - except I get vaginal yeast infections - now we know that is candida. As a matter of fact I was diagnosed with vulvodynia because I had chronic pain there. Only to now realize it was actually chronic yeast infections. I know I have a long journey ahead - battling mercury and yeast. I feel reassured though that yes tooth pain is probably related to the trauma to the tooth with all of the drilling. However, I did call dentist to ask him too and he wants me to come in tomorrow for another bite adjustment - he says if the bite is slightly off it can cause symptoms. So I'll keep you posted - in the meantime more vitamin C for me and rest. Thanks again! Ginamarie
Oh - anybody use Algin on a regular basis? If so how much? I started it about 3 weeks ago - don't know if it is helping - I still issues but maybe they woudl be worse without it? and how long should I wait until I start chelation? I know Andy says 4 days but is that too early? I actually felt better before when I started was chelating - initially anyway but that protocal was so screwed up. Any advice?

Wait at least three months before starting chelation. I suggest that you do a parasite cleanse before you start chelation. Are you taking oregano oil? If not then you should consider taking it. Did your dentist tell you to rinse your mouth with warm salt water a few times a day? It helps sooth the gums and disinfect your mouth. Chamomile tea and peppermint tea are very soothing when gums are inflamed. They are also antifungals. I may get some peppermint oil and ginger oil as well. Essential oils are very powerful but must be used very carefully as they are very strong and may be toxic if overused.

Okay 3 months. Yes I have considered some type of cleanse but wasn't sure where to start. Parasite sounds like a good one - better than colon? Any recommended brands better than others - I heard Humaworm was good. I don't want anything too harsh - I think that is what I was afraid of - like running to the bathroom every 5 minutes or feeling crapppier than I feel now. No - dentist didn't tell me about salt water. Thank God for you guys. I take A.C. formula which has: Berberis vulgaris (barberry) extract (6:1) 100 mg. Grapefruit seed extract 40 mg. Calcium (calcium undecylenate) 15 mg. Lavender extract (standardized to contain 15% essential oil ) 266 mg. Tea tree oil extract (standardized to contain 15% essential oil) 266 mg. Red thyme extract (standardized to contain 15% essential oil) 133 mg. It really seems to keep my candida under control - along with lots of probiotics and no sugar diet. It can really drive you crazy trying to figure out what is right for you. I lost trust in doctors so I am on my own with this. Knowledge seems to be key - well patience too I guess. It's just nice to know that I am far from being alone in this. I think most people expect instanteous results after amlagma removal - it's actually only the beginning. Any tips on what to do during those 3 months - sauna, epsom salt baths, how much vit C, garlic, clay?

Take a cup of warm water and dissolve half a teaspoon of salt in it. Rinse you mouth a few times a day. Humaworm has small amounts of laxative herbs like senna and buckthorn. Other parasite cleanses omit the laxative herbs. Most have black walnut green hull extract, wormwood, and cloves. Some have other herbs as well. I have never used Humaworm. Tea tree oil should not be used internally. see my thread about clove oil for more about this. I suggest not using clay or psyllium. Raw garlic is good. See my threads on raw garlic. I am taking 500 mg vit c twice a day. You could take 500 mg 4 times a day. I don't recommend taking more than this. You could take half a B50 2 to 4 times a day.

Don't take vitamin c within 24 hours before you will get dental work, as it makes novacaine less effective. Take vitamin c soon after the dental work is done.

i have TMJ, i got it only after amalgam removal, over 2 yrs ago, now i have tooth pain nearly everyday,i grind my teeth badly at night and have tinnitus, face and head pain most days. Nothing can be one for me unless i get dentures for back teeth but i havnt found a dentist that makes non-toxic dentures yet, maybe in the future. I grind so much it wakes me up, i only started grinding after amalgam removal.

I have TMJ too, Dawn. And have ground my teeth for years. It wakes me up, too. I wore braces (in my 40s!!!) a couple years ago so now wear a splint at night to hold my front teeth in place correctly, but use to wear a rubber one which helped. I wore mine down really badly partly due to my bite...but still grind and wake up very sore at times. Causes head aches, too. Lots of head and facial tension.

I'm going backwards here as usual...Sorry. I think teeth are always sensitive for a while after you get fillings redone or done at all. I use to have to wear an NTI, too!! I didn't have any occlusal! Of course grinding those already sore teeth isn't going to help. Something about mercury causes grinding but don't know why??? A nervous system thing somehow. Sorry...brain fuzz...but you aren't alone with that. I had a very similar experience, too, with an MD. I'd had my fillings out when I did a challenge test, but he gave me a bad protocol for chelating. Luckily I found Andy Cutler's website and he directed me to his book and forums before I actually used this guys directives.... I learned a lot being on those forums. This forum is not as restrictive, more social (which I like more for now). But lots of good info here with experienced folks, too. Welcome, but I'm sorry you are going through this. If I laid out every issue I've had or have most people wouldn't believe me.. but I'm relatively healthy for being so unhealthy!!! : ) I think most people just aren't aware what is going on, though, and we do.

Yes grinding is due to the mercury and since removal stirs up mercury my teeth could definetly be sore from grinding during the day. The NTI does help at night - I used to wake up with jaw and facial pain all the time. I am going back today for another bite adjustment. I am not thinking it is probably anything bad because the pain comes and goes. After awhile though of having so many things hurt and ache and then you get the fillngs out to help you, I started to think "oh no now I'm going to have tooth pain on top of it all." I know removing the mercury was my best health decision though. I am looking forward to good health and fertility!

I hope the fertility pans out.. I wanted more than 2 so understand how you might feel although am blessed with the 2 I have. If that doesn't work out - there is adoption... (Assuming you are having problems getting pregnant).

I definitely experienced pain after amalgam replacement. It went away after about 3-4 weeks.

Yes I had terrible problems after amalgam removal but has finally all settled now 1 year later. I would have to totally agree with everything Bex said. Definitely for me anyway.Even now sometimes a nut hits my tooth the wrong way but pretty much fine now. I did at one stage go to a Cranio massage therapist which was very helpful too and wearing a rubber splint also definitely helped with the grinding. I don't do that much now either.

I had a tooth with decay under the amalagam. He said he had to drill very close to the nerve. About a week after I couldn't put pressure on that tooth as i would get a big nerve shock. I went back and he said it needed filing down more so he did. It improved slightly but I needed to go back and have more filing done which I never did. I put up with that tooth hurting for years until it has finally, naturally moulded into the right shape it needed to be.
