Well, to add to this. A lady my father knows had a husband who continually blasphemed and she warned him constantly to cease doing this. She felt somehow, sometime, God would punish him. But he didn't listen. Out came the blasphemies and on he went, without considering the repurcussions of whom He was offending. He died of an awful cancer of the tongue and the face.....
Now take that as you will, but there is more than a few of these happenings around. Rest assured, God ALWAYS has the last word. Vengeance belongs to Him and Him alone, which is why we are told not to seek it ourselves. He has perfect judgement on a person and knows the perfect execution of it. Certainly, He always gives a person enough grace to come to Him through repentence and this is what He wants for all. Even those who now mock Him, still He wants them to come to Him. It takes a moment to die and people are dying all the time.....can we really guarantee tommorrow? We gamble with our souls daily when we practice in sin and mocking God, either with our lives and/or with our own tongue. Active mocking/rejection/scoffing, I'd really be very very careful.
The offer of salvation is there and Christ's arms are open to all repentent sinners. Why on earth would anybody in their right mind reject such an invitation from someone who went through such a cruel/horrific death on our account? It's bewildering to me. One only has to read what wonderful things God has prepared for those that love Him. Incomparable to anything on this earth and eternal too! Not only did He die for us, but He awaits us in Heaven to give us things beyond what anything this world can ever offer. What a wonderful hope for those in this life that have nothing and have been trampled on (the "nobodies" the "forgotten", the "sick and suffering").
But what a fearful thing it is for those that have used others, abused others, have done terrible things in secret and 'gotten away with it", and/or rejected Christ and such an offer. I know we are not meant to "condemn" others, but we should certainly remind ourselves that GOD IS NOT MOCKED.
