Having been around this business through my husband who was in it and still has friends in it, I am all the more convinced in the wisdom of the scripture, for what profiteth a man if he gain the whole world but lose his own soul. Case in point, Brittney Spears... (Poor thing). Some do stay more grounded. Although John sometimes feels frustrated to not have completely made it in the big time, I feel it is a blessing. He was flown out to audition for KISS the year before we met. His blonde hair was the deciding factor in who they picked (between him and another) and then they did use a blonde guitarist after that one (to replace the guy who replaced Ace Freley). He said they are Jewish business men, basically, with a gimmick. I don't think they're even good musicians personally but I've never been able to justify the influence they have exerted on kids... (Or the lack of respect they have shown women). With fame comes power and that is a responsibility. Another friend - the one who produces Josh Groban - has remained a force for good... I have tremendous respect for him.
