Hi Abishag, ((( Smiles )))
It's nice to know your here at times I can't be as..
It's summer time and so I'm on and off...
Round and about...
Thanks.. ((( Smiles )))
I haven't used the shout box search system much at all yet..
I like that Shout! Ouch!
With H that is so true....
Shouts use to really hurt my ears alot at one time..
Don't like them so much now either but it's not as bad as before.. My tolerances are real hi now..
Hi Jeanie, ((( Smiles )))
In the protection of or in just the prevention of H..
Loud noise trauma is so real....
Expecially for musicians and contractors and ect...
I was reading this...
The human ear can withstand 85 decibels of sound, about the volume of a factory, for eight hours at a time.
By contrast, 100 decibels, or about the sound of a subway car, can start to damage the ear after only 15 minutes..
Ouch!
But in the hearing industry...
Hearing protection for musicians
Perhaps even more damaging than hearing loss are the secondary effects that often accompany it or occur in isolation: tinnitus, diplacusis, and hyperacusis. Most professionals involved in hearing care are familiar with tinnitus, the perception of noise (ringing, etc) in the ears. However, fewer of us may routinely recognize diplacusis, a pathological matching of frequency and pitch that ultimately results in some notes sounding flat; due to this, diplacusis can be career-threatening to those in the music industry. Hyperacusis, a reduced tolerance of suprathreshold sound, is also career-threatening to those in the music industry. In the hyperacousic ear, sounds that are easily tolerated by most people (eg, laughter, a telephone ring, or live music) are uncomfortable or intolerable.
http://www.hearingreview.com/issues/articles/2006-03_06.aspYes hyperacusis can be from very mild to severe to profound..
It can get really bad...
There are no known cures for noise-induced hearing loss (NIHL), tinnitus, diplacusis, or hyperacusis;
early identification of auditory dysfunction and prevention of cochlear damage is the only viable treatment at this time.
------------------------------
No cure but treatment in the way of...
A desensitization program.....
That works in some way for most...
But not the cure...
Prevent is worth more then the cure yet....
Some people come down with H and they don't know why??
And some people come down with H and they are not around thoses kinds of loud noises..
And of course there are other ways to get come down with this
condition as well..
As well as the unknown...
Thank You Abishag... ((( Smiles )))
Nice to see you Jeanie... ((( Smiles )))
Take Care
Lynn
