Decreased sound tolerance is a general term ... Hyperacusis is an abnormal intolerance to ordinary, everyday sounds, which may develop in association with tinnitus related anxiety and distress. Hyperacusis can come about due to neurological causes.. Damage to the brain or the neurological system.. Migraines is a neurological syndrome as well... Which can include the symptoms of hyperacusis.. As well as Chronic Fatigue Syndrome.... Hyperacusis may develop with a number of conditions affecting the auditory pathway (including acoustic shock injury, Meniere's Disease, otosclerosis, perilymph fistula, Bell's Palsy), psychiatric disorders, neurological injuries and disorders (including head injury, migraine), adverse reactions to some medications, autistic spectrum disorders, Chronic Fatigue Syndrome, fibromyalgia and Lyme Disease. http://www.dineenandwestcott.com.au/hyperacusis.php

Funnily enough, I have experienced bouts of this quite recently. I cannot imagine having it full time. The sensation is almost like bells going off in the ears over almost any sound. penetrating! Painful in a way I cannot describe and it makes you want to hit someone. I found any sound upset me.
It has made me realise now what it is like and I understand it more now. I'm just glad it's not with me more often! (cross fingers).

Oh Wow.. ((( Smiles )))
I just read what you both wrote and it's just so interesting that hyperacusis can be a symptom of so many different disorders.. I know that williams syndrome is one of them and there are probably alot more of them too.. I'll think about it now that I'm here with you all.. And the symptoms of H can go all the way from mild all the way to severe/profound.. And it can make one feel like striking back in a way.. as it's like a physical sound/ear assault.. And it can be painfull too.. It effects one that way.... Can give one a sound headache too.. Just haveing Chronic Fatigue Ect.. Without this symptom on top of everything else.. Is hard... I'll keep my fingers crossed too... When it's bad it can get bad..
You Take Care Lynn

Chronic Fatigue or Mercury Poisoning? It just makes you wonder how many conditions may be related to Mercury Toxicity? A study have shown scientifically that mercury by-products resulting from amalgam corrosion are 50 times as toxic to the same cell cultures when glutathione is removed from the cell growth medium. http://www.cfspages.com/nutrition.htmlGlutathoine has also been used in Autism therapy's as well by IV.
