I recently went to my biological dentist that I now go to for regular checkups (after having had my almagams removed by a regular dentist because of financial reasons). She said that she could see "dark" spots coming through my composit. She looked at the x-rays that they had taken when I first came to her (about 2 years ago) and said that there was still mercury under my composits. I don't know why they would not have noticed this before. There were different looking areas on the x-rays, but that doesn't mean anthing to mean so I was skeptical that it really was until I got home and looked at my tooth with a mirror and sure enough, there is a metal looking spot in the middle that was not there before!
I'm wondering- how is it "seeping" through the composit? Has anyone else had this experience? I asked for a ballpark figure for only replacing the one and she said @$330. We can't afford that and I don't think that I can go through more replacements.
Interestingly, I had several test done last fall and I didn't have any mercury show up-even with the urine test with DMSA. I know that I probably still have it stored in "safe" places, but can this new development cause that all to change?

Hi Searching I only have 1 composite but it looks like it has a spot of mercury under it and this 1 was replaced 7 years ago. Looked good until recently. Could have been like that and just noticed it when I got the rest out but is hard to say. Don't know yet what I am going to do about it or if it is mercury...could just be stain. It is not making me feel any worse. I am starting to feel a whole lot better so hopefully it is just stain. Sounds like they want to rob you just for the 1 tooth to be done. mine is pretty cheap but just going to the office makes me feel bad for a few days. He doesn't put mercury in but he is still drilling it out so that is what I think makes me feel bad... the air in the office. I would rather not deal with it now because of that. Hope you feel better.
