Hi There,
I just found your forum this morning. I am interested in learning my way around and reading some of the posts here. Looks like a great forum!

I went to the dermatologist yesterday because a two-week old worsening rash. She said it might be contact dermatitis from gardening maybe......but she also mentioned Grover's disease as a possibility but has not yet taken measures to look for that. Right now I am using a topical steroid ointment as the first step.

Being a curious person.....I did research on Grover's disease and found connections re: Grover's to mercury in one's system. I believe I might have high mercury in my system because my adult daughter who is ill tested high for mercury and she must have gotten that in utero as she has no fillings and was not brought up on fish. So in utero HAD to come from me. But I still have not gotten myself tested however I will.

So need to get this checked and eventually get a biopsy for Grover's.

This rash.....I have a feeling it is more than something I contacted....it is not like poison ivy or something like that. It is more like bumps-in clusters here and there and then individual bumps in between.

My question is- has anyone here had a rash....I have had some mercury fillings removed...slowly but surely and intend to finish the job but I still have a good amount of mercury in my teeth. My prior dentist denied mercury was bad for you....of course he would - he USES it unless you ask for an alternative. He uses NO safe method of removal.

I now have a new dentist who uses safe methods of removal and knows the dangers of mercury.

Also fish. I have been eating fish recently but will stop in case this recently acquired rash got triggered by me going over a threshold of mercury into my system- you know the straw that broke the camel's back.

Also I have chronic Lyme.....so my system is prone to straws that break camels backs.

Oh...one more thing....what is the most reliable way to test for mercury- blood? And what numbers would make one suspicious of high mercury levels? I am concerned about reference ranges...because sometimes they say "within normal range".....but what would be normal about having mercury in your system??

So again.....does anyone here have Grover's disease? A rash?
Thank you.

I hate to say this, but rashes are often a symptom of parasite infection, or perhaps just a candida overgrowth. Those who are mercury toxic often have one or both of these. Parasites are very common in the general population(some estimates are over 25% of the population, even in industrialized countries. Most parasites are microscopic, although some are large. Those with mercury toxicity are much more likely to get them then the general population). One clue that you might have trouble with one or both of these is getting a reaction after eating a clove of raw garlic(cut it into small pieces, chew it well, and swallow it with plenty of water. Eat just one clove(section), after a large meal). Raw garlic kills both parasites and candida, and these release plenty of toxins as they are being killed. Testing for parasites is useless and a waste of effort. The correct approach is to do a one month herbal parasite cleanse if they suspect that they might have parasites.

There is plenty of mercury in many vaccines. There are also environmental sources of mercury. Mercury isn't just from mercury fillings or some fish.

Perhaps you should start by eliminating sugar and alcohol from your diet, and go on a low carbohydrate diet(eliminate fruit and replace it with low carbohydrate vegetables. Eliminate wheat and other grains. Eat high protein foods. Eat nuts and seeds if you need the calories). Carbohydrates cause candida and parasites to thrive. Then you could take in antifungal herbs-garlic, cinnamon, clove, ginger, peppermint, licorice root, chamomile, etc. Then you could try a parasite cleanse. Most parasite cleanses have at least these 3 herbs, black walnut green hull, wormwood, and clove. Some here like Humaworm. There are many other parasite cleanse products.

tests for mercury are useless, since chronic long term mercury poisoning doesn't leave a high level of mercury in the blood. The mercury is accumulated in organs instead. Any test will only measure the amount of mercury excreted, not the amount stored in vital organs that is causing problems.

Hi Foggy,

There is such a thing known as the "mercury rash" and I have experienced it myself. Following a DMPS IV injection (which pulls mercury out of the tissues etc), I suffered from then on, ongoing severe rashes like I had never seen before. This would occur especially when heating up (mercury rising).

I could taste metal at the sametime and I look almost deformed from the rashes, which were very pink, hot, and welts also came up. I had them even on my ears, my face, my hands, my feet, backside, and the rest of me! If I had a hot bath, or I exercised etc, up they would come. This was further confirmation that I was full of mercury and that the DMPS had erupted the storage of it and basically pulled it into more accessible areas. My body then had no choice but to try and eliminate it, as the strain on my kidneys would have been too much. So it came up and out via the skin.

Over time, though this was absolutely horrible, I guess it was one way my body detoxed the stuff. But it was most unpleasant and it was slow. I sped it up later and made it more tolerable by finding a chelation protocol that suited me and got the mercury out much more efficiently and safer, so eventually the rashes became less and less over time.

I think there is also something called "Pink's disease" which I think is to do with the mercury also.

JK is right, the testing for mercury may not show up how much mercury is in you, but rather how much you are excreting. If you are like me and you tend to retain mercury, rather than eliminate it efficiently, you will likely show very low levels on testing. You will then not be believed by the doctor, who will interpret the test at face value, not considering retention toxicity and that your body is not pushing it out and they'll send you on your way saying "you do not have mercury poisoning". Because they simply do not understand how to interpret testing. Some of them are fully aware of this and understand it well. one of the top doctors in New Zealand who has dealt with mercury for many years fully understands this and says the sickest patients are often the ones showing the lowest levels. Simply because even in healthy people, there is a level of mercury because all of us are exposed to it one way or another. But healthy people eliminate it better.

Sick people retain it and it does not come out as well, and doesn't tend to show a level on testing, or at least an accurate level to show how poisoned they really are. It maybe also that if you do really have LOW levels, that you might be a person that is reactive to even small amounts of mercury and cannot handle it as well as others. I had very low levels, yet I had a LOAD of the stuff locked into my tissues/organs and the eruption of it following an DMPS IV was tremendous. It was like an ongoing flood after that had erupted the stored mercury out.

My body could still not eliminate it properly, so I was in a lot of distress and was very poisoned daily because of this.

Please stop eating fish. Some people with mercury refuse to stop eating fish and will say that they are consuming low mercury fish. The problem is, even low mercury fish can build up in someone who cannot even eliminate the mercury already in them and it can also hinder excretion of mercury. If you really want to get the benefits, then get hold of a fish oil supplement that is certified mercury free and has been tested. It is not worth the risk of continuing to eat fish. One doctor I heard of in US, said she will say to her patients 'NO FISH' and if they say "yes but it's healthy, I'll just eat low mercury fish" she just says "read my lips, no fish". She is strict on this because she knows what happens when just enough mercury continues to come into the system in people who cannot detox it properly.

You would be wise also to look up candida symptoms. Candida (overgrowth of yeast in the body) occurs in most people suffering from mercury poisoning and can contribute to many of the symptoms and misery of mercury. I can only echoe what JK has said here. Many people go on a candida diet and find many symptoms improve. It can be a life saver. I had to rid my diet COMPLETELY of sugar, wheat/gluten (grain/bread with wheat and/or gluten), yeast etc. And at first I had an eruption of detox symptoms, but the improvement at the end of it was worth everything. I was then able to handle the mercury better and detox better, because my immunity, gut and liver were much improved.

One dentist I know of who treats mercury toxic people, refuses to remove their amalgams, unless they are on a candida diet and have been for weeks beforehand, or he says if they are overburdened by mercury AND candida toxins, they will find the removal even more traumatic. So he insists on this, plus helpful supplements. If they refuse to do it, he sends them away.

The reason many find the diet hard is because they have candida overgrowth and the candida craves the very things it needs to survive (sugar and high carbs etc). WHen you eliminate those things, the candida becomes desperate and you wind up craving. This is the intitial battle and will power is usually required because it can really test you. But over time, the cravings will lessen and may even cease altogether, once candida is under control. It can take a few weeks.

Please look into this as a possible part of your symptoms, because it can really make a big difference to some people and it did to me. It will also help your body detox mercury better! Apart from the diet, supplements, you will later want to get on a proper chelation protocol to get the mercury out of your tissues and organs.

Thank you both for answering my post.......and thank you Bex for welcoming me on the other forum. Actually your welcome words led me here...as I had no idea that my first post came here. I thought it got lost as I did not realize that I posted here and thought I was only trying to post on the other "general" forum. See why I have the name foggy!!

JK- I am definitely staying away from fish!! I even stopped my vitamin D as it is in fish oil..got to replace that.

Bex- I have noticed for years that when I avoid grains and sugar and dairy too I feel better in general.

This rash has me feeling out of control....I cannot even imagine the one that you had to deal with Bex...that sounds awful. I do feel that the source of mine IS internal...as opposed to contact "dermatitis"....and even though for "starters" I got topical medicine it is great that my doc is open to the mercury issue and I am definitely looking into that. This dermatologist thinks outside the box.

Thanks about the notice re: mercury testing. And I do get it that I could test low for mercury....Unfortunately have experience in those kinds of things for instance I had the bullseye rash for Lyme yet never tested positive yet I had all of the symptoms and was very systemically ill and only doctors who are smart about Lyme understand that one can have Lyme even without testing positive....as the test they use measures antibodies and some of us do not build up enough antibodies.....only telling this story about Lyme to let you know I understand how you can be low positive for mercury even if you are high in mercury as I have dealt with the medical system and testing for a long time and know that most docs do NOT think outside of their own paradigms and all of that stuff.

I am definitely going back on the limited diet and hope this rash goes away.

Besides Lyme doing me in....I actually remember starting to "break down" further little by little after getting two molars drilled nearly two years ago and there was so much stuff was flying around in my mouth and I was swallowing and there was the impression stuff for the crowns and then glue in my mouth....and I kept getting injected with the short acting anesthesia because I do not do well with epinephrine and must have gotten injected at least 30 times as I was there for over 3 hours. It was a very bad experience and after that drilling session, etc I got -(within hours) I got chills and a fever and other problems that were scary like pain all the way up the left side of my head which felt to me like and infection but there no proof of that....

Meanwhile since then I started getting allergic to things I never was allergic to....but not hugely allergic....just in small ways.

But this rash is the worst so far...and it makes me feel so out of control because I don't know how long it will keep on keeping on......

Anyway thank you both for your help.....you each have said a lot....and it is much to think about.

Hi foggy,

You're welcome. I'm sorry that you also have lyme! On top of this and yeah testing for these things seems not to always produce accurate results (false negatives).

I have heard that there is some kind of Salt/vitamin C "cure" for Lyme (or at least helper). And when using them both together, you can get a die off reaction from the lyme. Vitamin C is very good to take, whether you have lyme or not, and especially with mercury/candida. So perhaps you could get some natural salt and add that to the vitamin C.....please google "Salt C cure for lyme" to read more about this and find out how much you should take etc.

Another "remedy" is "cat's claw" (or Samento) is also very powerful with lyme and probably should be taken with caution as it's a herb and is very potent apparently and may cause reactions.

But yeah the diet is very important and often for many, essential to keep going and cope a bit better. For me once, before this virus, the diet used to product dramatic results, especially when I still had amalgams in my mouth. Later on it still helped, but after my last amalgam removal I went into that awful mercury detox mode where the stored mercury starts to dump out. So at that point, though I needed the diet, the symptoms were extreme because of the ongoing detox from mercury dumping back out into my system (like being repoisoned).

The rash could be from anything. But I do think that if it stems from something internal, then it is your body's way of trying to take the load off the other organs and try and expel something via the skin. Toxins of some kind. Whether mercury or something else. Yes it could be candida/parasites. Very hard to say, which is why diet is very important for you to reduce the overall toxicity and see if that helps.

Aside from that, you can only really prepare for getting the rest of the amalgams out of your mouth and then start detoxing yourself from the stored metals remaining in the tissues/organs.

Keep us posted on how things are going.

Foggy, have you tried eating raw garlic? I think this has helped me greatly. I feel worse soon after eating it, but feel much better several hours later. I guess it is having a big effect. You could try eating raw garlic for a few days and see if you start feeling better. Don't overdo it though. Just one clove(section) of raw garlic at the end of a large meal. Cut it into small pieces, chew each piece separately, chew it well, and swallow it with plenty of water. You could start with one clove a day then perhaps later go to 2 or perhaps 3, one after each meal.

http://www.herbwisdom.com/herb-garlic.html

Another powerful and inexpensive supplement is clove oil. Use this cautiosly though, as larger amounts could be toxic. I use 3 drops mixed well in half a cup of water 2 or 3 times a day.
