Toxic123, I had the last of my amalgams out in mid 1997. I felt worse immediately, no doubt due to swallowing some of the amalgam, which caused almost immediate and dramatic poisoning symptoms. I improved somewhat after awhile, went into a kind of remission in a way. I did not really do chelation, I did basically "nothing".
My body decided to start dumping the years of stored mercury out of the blue, about a year and a half post amalgam removal. So I'd say about early 1999 it began and I even remember the day it hit. IT was like being repoisoned, but worse than how it was with amalgams, because this was detox.
I was really feeling very ill as the mercury was starting to shift. I had a DMPS IV, which brought the symptoms on even worse, and so dramatically that from then on, all I did pretty much was spend most days in a mess of detoxification. Most days were spent crying and salivating uncontrollably, which could last an hour or more a time. Then it would wane and build up again, only to occur again.
I tried many means to increase the detox, to try and speed up the removal of the metals, but it would of course increase symptoms, and sometimes intolerably. Though it left me feeling as though I had eliminated more metal. However, it would just build up again because more mercury would come to the surface.
I would have to say from the time my body started to dump mercury - 1999, that I began to notice improvements around 2001 - 2002. It takes about 2 years or more to start noticing improvements, though it varies from person to person. I made it much easier, faster and more effective when I started using Andy Cutler's chelation protocol. It still wasn't easy, but it got the mercury out more thoroughly and in a manner I could tolerate better. Though I didn't enjoy having to take a pill every 4 hours around the clock, and waking up wasn't exactly fun, but it was worth it.
It's not a race! Your body will do it's best to eliminate the poison, but much of it just gets reabsorbed again until the next round of detox. The body will try and detox the mercury naturally anyway (the more available mercury), without chelation. This can be aided a heck of a lot by antioxidants, which are highly important. I was helped a lot by vitamin C (powder), vitamin E and selenium. And a proper diet. Hot baths to help sweat through the pores of my skin. Moderate exercise (treadmill or mini trampoline/rebounding). And the Cutler protocol.
Those were the main things I did to detox myself of most of the mercury. The improvements that came at the end were remarkable and I hardly recognised myself, both mentally and even my appearance altered/improved markedly.
