I've heard that mercury toxicity can result in chemical sensitivity. Could this apply to water?

When I take a bath, for example, I get red rashes. I've never known why. It happens regardless of temperature of the water. Could it be reaction to something in the water? Because of this, I don't bath every day. Shampoos etc also make me feel quite sick, so I only wash my hair with them once a week and then rinse my hair couple of times a week with water only.

Would natural shampoos etc help the problem? Do you think it might improve when I have the fillings removed?

From what I understand of the chemical sensitivity, it is because you are so full of toxins that your liver can't keep up with the detox process and any exposure is then noticed by you. Cuttler says it can be caused if your detox phase I is slower than you phase II.

Sounds to me like it is the chemicals that are getting to you. Your body requires water to survive, but not all those chemicals that are put in it. I don't know where you live, but my water has tons of chemicals added such as chlorine and flouride. I have a shower filter and use products by Avalon that don't have all those harmful chemicals.

What shampoo do you use?

We have chemicals in the water, but I'm not sure what.

Shampoo I use - I've tried different kinds but the smell etc makes me nauseous and causes rhinitis symptoms. Doesn't matter which shampoo. At the moment I use Garnier.

I had a urine test done lately and the doctor said it showed my kidneys are working fine (she might have said liver). Would they have noticed signs of toxicity? Or would they only have noticed if they were looking for it?

From my experience with doctors and from what I've read, you are right. They aren't looking for toxins so of course they don't find them. I was urinating very frequently, every 20 to 30 minutes and would get ill feeling and have a headache if I had to wait too long to go and I was sent to a kidney dr. who ran all the "standard test" and told me my kidneys were good.

I've also heard that liver function test don't actually show how the liver is functioning.

Not one doctor has ever asked me what I have in my mouth, and I've been going to see doctors since I was about 16 telling them something is wrong with me. That's 14 years of telling them something's not right.

The dentist I saw who believes in mercury toxicty asked me to fill out a list of symtoms - I had to rate how I am on them etc - and to be honest some of them were really hard to answer because I haven't been well since I was about 10 years old, so I really don't know if I have a metallic taste in my mouth or if I urinate frequently, because it's all "normal" to me, if that makes sense? But, reflecting on some of the questions now, I think my score would have been in the "chronic mercury poisoning" range because I missed out certain things.

Hi Demi

I stopped using any over the counter shampoos and conditioners from main stream stores because of what I read of the chemicals they use building up in the body.

I've often broke out in rashes from shampoos or facial cleansers--even Phisoderm!

Now I use only Burt's Bees or Aubrey Organics stuff- or Dr. Bronner's Castile solid or liquid soaps.

Aubrey makes the best shampoos and conditioners- and in such a variety for every hair type!

We have well water - and I would still get rashes- but now that I no longer even wear chemical cosmetics or lotions- let alone shampoos, etc., I no longer have any bad symptoms.

when I was still somewhat "healthy" lol I was able to tolerate HOT water and stay in for long periods of time now I'm lucky to get a 5 minute shower once a week, I have clostraphobic issues to begin with but the water itself seems to burn me not only tempurature wise but just its touch on my skin....my face flairs up seriously red and puffs as well as body parts...as far as soaps go I use all natural miracle II soap which works wonderfully..it just seems like i am having a problem with the water or somthing in it

Demi,
Just read your post on having problems with deodorants and other skin products. I have come across a wonderful deodorant made by Young Living--it is based with essential oils and it has made a big difference for me. I was having a terrible time with odor and although I was using an organic deodorant, it was not enough for me. This essential oil product actually draws toxins out of the lymph glands. There is no odor and even if I feel I'm sweating, it is not a problem for me or anyone around me. You can find this company on line at www.youngliving.com
Hope this might be of use to you!

You're not alone. I'm increasingly avoiding baths, showers and washing my hair because of the side effects. I had a bath today that wasn't even hot and my skin feels very sensitive to the touch. I've cut down baths now to 1-2 a week and wash my hair about the same using only baby shampoo.
