I've never done much research on whole house (could be because I live in a remodeled bus and not a house <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> ). The filter I have is RO + Deionization to remove the fluoride and I bought plenty of extra filters and the deionization media (which is the most important part for fluoride) It can do roughly maybe like 16 gallons a day. I paid only $100 + $30 shipping from a company called aquasafecanada on ebay, and I am very satisfied with it (had it about 8 months).
I do have fresh mountain spring water available to me 1/2 a mile down the road on the property I live at, but it supposedly is high in natural fluoride which kinda makes me a little paranoid.
Its sad that we have access to so much fresh water and they put poison in it before it gets to us. Good luck on finding a whole house filter, otherwise consider something like I have as its inexpensive and wasn't very hard to install (did take a little thinking though!)
