As a general rule of thumb, you can/should/try increasing the dose after 3 rounds of manageable/limited or no symptoms or side-effects, both on and off rounds. If its comfortable then stay where you are, if the rounds are easy, then its ok to increase. Any increase in dosage is recommended at not more than 50pct of the current dose. So you are at 50mg, so your next would be not more than 75mg. Splitting caps is easy….just slip into drug-dealer mode…plate, empty caps (get the big ones) post-it-notes folded down the middle, credit card and chop up some lines! Do it by eye. Takes 5 minutes to master. I split all the caps for that round, take 20-25 mins total. Should you increase the dose now???? remember, chelation will take a couple of years…the odd month here or there at the same safe dose is much better than going too quickly. Going too quickly just leads to problems and pain. There is no rush. 50mg of ALA is a fairly high dose, if it where me….its stick there for 3-4 more rounds, make sure I’m handling things fine. Will double the dosage mean twice as much mercury excreted, or will the difference be much less or much more than that? no, the difference is less... By doubling the dose, you do not double the amount of mercury removed. Andy has said that excretion only increases by about the square root, or something like 20-30%, not doubled, so it's not worth too many extra symptoms for a small increase in excretion. taken from here http://health.groups.yahoo.com/group/frequent-dose-chelation/message/21912if you search “square root” on Yahoo FDC you will have many explanations on many posts. I didn’t know about MSM.
