If you can get chicken and eggs free range, you should be ok. I think the reason for this is, I hear they can sometimes feed chickens a fish meal (which could contain mercury), so then through them, there might be risk for contamination. Also, non free-range can contain antibiotics and other undesirables.

I gather the reason for the onions/leeks is because they are very high sulfur foods and I think a dentist mentioned that because of their high sulfur content, they can absorb the mercury from the soil that they were in ....not sure about that one. I do not get problems from eating onions or leeks and I eat loads of them, yet I am hyper sensitive to mercury and react very easily from anything that is contaminated with it. Perhaps it depends where a person lives, I don't know.

Yes, you should avoid all fish, all wheat/gluten products, milk and caffeine. Fish of course is a no brainer (mercury contaminated and even low mercury fish may not be ok either, I react to all of them and they can make you ill, it's not worth it).

Wheat is apparently treated with mercury fungicide, plus many mercury toxic people react severely to wheat and the gluten in it. Gluten can mess up your gut and prevent/hinder proper absorption of nutrients in the process (it can act as a glue and for those messed up by mercury, they may not be able to digest it).

Milk can apparently hinder mercury detoxification for reasons I do not understand, plus it's a pretty high allergy food. You would probably be fine with acidophilus yoghurt though (sugar free) and butter is fine. In fact, butter is wonderful for mercury toxic people and Hal Huggins believes it's so good it helps chelate mercury itself (not sure about that one though).

Caffeine, again can interfere with detox of mercury, stresses the adrenal glands and does other things inside the body that is not good on a mercury toxic person (or anybody really). Coffee is the WORST. Some get away with some black tea, but herbal is best.

Sugar is a disaster. Sugar lowers immunity and is responsible for so many things going wrong in your body, that the stuff is almost a poison. Eliminate it, I mean completely. It will feed organisms in your gut - candida etc. And most people with mercury have candida problems.

Apart from that? I cannot see issues with much else. Ask your dentist/doctor is free range eggs and chicken is ok? Just so that might give you more variety, but if he says no, that they've been tested too and found to have mercury contamination, then you'd be wise to keep away I guess too. See what he says.

Your diet would be quite limited, but that is very normal for someone toxic who is trying to get well. Sometimes you have to be drastic for a time until you recover.

So basically, the ones I absolutely had to eliminate when mercury toxic were:

Sugar
Wheat/gluten
Seafood (all)
Milk
Caffeine (coffee)
yeast

As for anything else? That is very individual and you have to figure that out sometimes on your own. If you have a very bad case of yeast (candida), you may need to limit or even eliminate natural sugar/carb foods like fruits, honey, high carb vegetables like potatoes and corn etc. It does depend on your condition. But DEFINITELY eliminate all sugar and sugar foods (cookies, icecreams etc etc), wheat/gluten containing foods like breads/crackers/cereals and find a non wheat/gluten kind (if you are ok with grains).

I hope this helps
