I have?on a couple of occasions?looked up most of the ingredients in hair dyes and other cosmetics just to see if they may be affecting Laura (my business partner). You can find the MSDS or at least some safety information for almost any substance on the Internet.
Amazingly, I found that the poisons that are being used in these products are potent and very toxic. Many of the ingredients in hair products say to avoid contact with skin. Others say do not inhale and/or to wear breathing apparatus when handling.
What worries me most are the ones that say they can cause long-term liver and kidney issues. Remember, anything that is on your skin is in your blood in some amount. Even though the amounts you may be exposed to are small, I believe the long-term affects of occasional exposure add up to a harmful mix.
No doubt the pharmaceutical companies profit from "treating" diseases caused by these additives; And it surely cannot be good to allow these substances to get into the water supply and eventually into the food chain.
"Think long-term."
