If you like suspense, likable-realistic characters, and monsters, this is worth a rent. In fact, I would have seen it in the theaters if I had known how visually encompassing it was. If you're easily prone to motion sickness, don't even try it.

This is not a movie about meaning or purpose. It is not a movie about knowledge or how people learn lessons or grow throughout the experiences of their lives. It is simply about experiences in their lives. It is a movie that draws you in with realistic characters, big effects, and just enough views of the monster to cause you to relive the experience over and over in your mind trying to get more information.

Visually, it is ominous because of it's big realism combined with purposefully humble camera work. Emotionally, it is compelling because you actually know something about (and like) the characters; something dreadfully missing from most modern movies. Finally, it's not deep. It's just effective and innovative visual and emotional candy that strikes a disturbing cord and leaves you wanting more.

For those who like suspense, thrills, and realistic what-if disaster scenarios, I recommend it.
