I watched an episode of Myth Busters this weekend (I watch very little TV). This is the show where they try to prove or disprove different "myths" and see if they are true. On this weekend's episode, they were testing the "exploding tattoo" myth to see if tattoos explode in an MRI machine. Well, it turned out to be a myth. Tattoos don't explode in an MRI... HOWEVER... I was interested to see that?while mixing the coloring agents used in tattoos?they used mercury. I already knew this from reading Huggins but it was really neat to see "first hand". They actually had a bottle of mercury containing several ounces of the stuff in the tattoo shop and they handled it without any protection. I was amazed.

I also have heard about mercury in the tattoos but I thought it came already mixed. I didn't realize that they mixed it themselves......very scary!
