I wonder if anyone has experience with an adrenal support product called Isocort? I have been taking it for a couple of weeks and I'm experiencing increased agititation. I wonder if that supplement could be causing a problem for me.

I looked it up on the internet and it looks like a very safe product. However, I've had problems in the past with things that were intended to stimulate me.

I'm going to stop taking it for a few days and see how I feel.

I've tried it, some times it helps a lot, some times it seems to do nothing and a couple of times I've felt worse. The increase in cortisone can mess with your blood sugar. Stopping it sounds like the thing to do.

Hi Aaron,

I have been wondering the effects of Isocort myself. I have just been recently prescribed Cortef 5mg in the am and at noon time along with Ashwagandha once daily, but I am terrified of trying it. I have not tried Isocort either but I'm wondering if I should try the Cortef, go to Isocort or just try all natural methods. Can anyone help that is experienced with this? Bex gave some great information on his Adrenal exhaustion list but I am still going back and forth if I should try the Cortef and Ashwaghanda or just leave out the Cortef? Any advice would be much appreciated. Thx. <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/confused.gif" alt="" />

I tried Isocort last week and within two days was agitated and hyper and chose to stop it.

Angelbaby, where did you get your Cortef?

I have had two doctors tell me they want me to take Cortef now, but I am too scared. I have read too many people with hashimotos unable to take thyroid meds anyway and unable to get off hydrocortisone and then have problems two years along the line with low cholesterol and heart problems.

I am looking into the treatments which were developed in Russia using combinations of herbs to treat exhaustion and also to improve performance. This is the reason why Russian athletes do so well and why the armies were able to exist in terrible conditions during WW2.

Mati:

Read this, I got it off the Wilson's Temperature website:

http://www.wilsonssyndrome.com/index.html

Hashimoto's Thyroiditis is an auto-immune inflammation of the thyroid gland. This means that the body can sometimes aim an immune attack, similar to the way it might fight germs or cancer, against its own thyroid gland. When that occurs, white blood cells called lymphocytes can infiltrate into the tissue of the thyroid gland. When doctors remove small amounts of thyroid tissue, either with a needle biopsy or during surgery, pathologists are able to see this infiltration, using microscopes. Blood tests can also demonstrate antibodies against the thyroid gland.

Hashimoto's is more common in women, especially of child-bearing age. It can result in diffuse swelling of the thyroid gland. Patients may not have any thyroid function complaints at all. Sometimes patients can develop symptoms of low thyroid function, and rarely, overactive thyroid symptoms.

If patients do develop low thyroid complaints it is recommended that they receive thyroid hormone replacement. However, some patients with Hashimoto's Thyroiditis develop classic symptoms of low thyroid function and still have normal thyroid blood tests. They are often told that since their thyroid tests are normal, they can't benefit from thyroid treatment.

In Dr. Wilson's experience, patients with Hashimoto's thyroiditis and Wilson's Temperature Syndrome respond indistinguishably from other patients suffering from WTS. The Hashimoto's patients are no more, or less likely to respond favorably to the treatment, have side effects, or to relapse once their symptoms have been corrected. In addition, doctors report that they've seen anti-thryoid antibody levels drop in Hashimoto's patients treated with T3.

In other words patients with Hashimoto's disease may have normal blood tests, low body temperatures, and classic symptoms of low thyroid function. They may be told that they're symptoms aren't due to low thyroid function. Yet, their symptoms may respond dramatically well to proper T3 therapy for Wilson's Temperature Syndrome, and remain improved even after the treatment's been discontinued, thus providing a persistent cure for their complaints.

Hi Glacina, <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/smile.gif" alt="" />

I got a prescription for Cortef from my Integrative Medicine Doctor. She prescribed 5mg in am and at noon daily. I was very skeptical to take it in the beginning but I have actually been sleeping through the night since I started taking it a month ago. My adrenals were really shot, making it difficult for me to get up in the morning, tired throughout the day and wide awake at night suffering from insomnia, palpitations, night sweats and horrible thoughts. She recommended I take for 6 weeks and then follow up with her to see if she should ween me down to 1 5mg pill per day and then take me off completely or continue until I feel my adrenals have been somewhat healed.

Thanks for that Gabriella. What Dr Wilson says, and what a lot of hashi people experience are evidently not the same thing. I did think of trying a small dose of T3 without the hydrocortisone but a recent experience with a dose of sublingual B12 has made me unsure as I went hyperthyroid for a few days. When you read the doctors they make it sound easy but from my rounds of thyroid support sites, it is not and many cannot take the thyroid hormones and some try low dose Naltrexone which sounds promising. It stops the anti-bodies but not everyione can take it.
