Here is crazy thing that happened to me. My wife was making a pecan pie and boy did it smell delicious. She wouldn't let me have a bite until the morning. I ate a piece before I went to school. After I got out of class I just felt exhausted. I had to find a bed. Of course I didn't realize what it was. Later that night I had another piece of pie and wham! I can't keep my eyes open. If you haven't tried this yet I'd like to know what kind of reaction you guys get. Somehow I think the algin and the pecan nuts are reacting to give a sedative reaction. Maybe the best sleep "medicine" I've ever taken. I don't think it's the cilantro because my wife is not taking cilantro and she had the same reaction when she ate the pecan pie. She is only taking algin along with amalgam removal.

I find this fascinating. I would love to hear what others have to say about something like this. My problem is if I EAT I want to sleep. Of course it's not the Algin for me, because I just started taking it today. So far, so good. For the last several years (even before I knew about the mercury), I knew something was wrong. As soon as I'm done eating, sometimes the last bite, up to 15-20 minutes after, I literally fight to stay awake. I feel like someone's grandpa, after a big Thanksgiving dinner, wanting to go grab a recliner and take a nap. It is a miserable life. If I know there are places to go, or things to get done, I starve myself. I know if I eat, most but not all of the time, I am DONE for the day. When I starve myself I get sick, when I eat, I pass out. It is a hard way to live. People want you to come over and eat dinner...hubby forgets and fixes me something to eat, then wants to continue our day, and it just doesn't work for me. I'm done. Your post reminded me that I've never asked anyone about this, and now I am intrigued. Is there something in that pecan pie, that I normally eat on a regular basis (maybe don't even realize it), and it's doing this to me?? Maybe it's not the Algin, but something in the pie that reacts with a mercury laden system, or something.

By the way, Sittingduck, how much Algin do you and your wife take? Just starting today, I've done the 2 capsules, 3 times a day, like it says. Was wondering if I should be doing more, or different and what others do? Do you also take the doses with the full 2 glasses of juice, or does anyone ever use other liquids? I've heard juice is best, but wondered what everyone else does.

mommy24 I take 2 capsules 10 - 15 minutes before I eat cilantro. I then wait an hour or so and have another capsule. Then I might take 1 or 2 more as needed for the rest of the day. I don't know if it's the mercury that makes me sleepy, but I know that other foods don't get that type of reaction when I eat. But I wonder if many of the issues of fatigue is an issue with your gut or the ability for it to absorb,digest....?

Thank you for your reply!
Good point about the digestion. You may be on to something. Not quite sure about why the sleepiness occurs, as opposed to anything else that could happen, after you eat something. Unless it just literally wipes me out, trying to digest. Hmm. Maybe someone can shed some light on this.

When you eat something and you then feel sleepy and want to go to sleep, it is a signal that your body is working very hard to digest the food you just ate….then everything else starts shutting down to conserve energy, or maybe better to say…so much energy is diverted to digesting the food that the rest of your body takes a back seat, or is rested in order to digest that food.

So that means your digestive actions are not strong enough to digest that specific food. You may have an allergy to one or all of the ingredients too. Intolerances and allergies are very very common and especially common in us mercury toxic people. Digesting foods that we are intolerant to puts even more strain on your digestive tract. Discovering your intolerances and allergies is ……….. tricky….. until you actually start searching for them. Most of the time your body just puts up with them, it doesn’t have much choice if you regularly eat that grub anyway…..so its only when u stop eating them do you notice and start getting better.

What was in the pie? What could be so hard to digest? Was it a sweet pie? Sugar? Was it made with white flour? Any dairy in there? Table salt used?

Don’t know about the Algin…but if you eat pie and then get tired….i’d blame the pie not the algin.

I guess this reply will lead to loads more questions….fire away!

I don't think it's likely an allergy. Both my wife and I experienced a sedative like effect upon eating the pie. I would rule out the brown sugar (molasses) and other ingredients as we intake them somewhat often. Although the combination might change things a little. Only commonality between us was the algin. I'm not just talking about a little sleepy effect that happens naturally from a meal but drug like induced type of weariness. I'm looking at the pecan nuts and algin as being the players here. Maybe this is a great find, but maybe it was nothing.

Could it have been a particular combination of ingredients that may have produced this sedative type effect? Not knowing exactly which ones are responsible, but it sounds like a combined effect. One ingredient on its own may not have done anything of the sort, but combined, it obviously did! Unless someone crushed up some sleeping tablets and put them in there <img src="/ubbthreads/images/graemlins/wink.gif" alt="" /> (I'm kidding).....you'd almost want to try each ingredient alone to see if there is any response and then try certain ones combined. It's definitely unusual!

But certainly a way to sleep I guess....

I've eaten peanuts at times that have done the same thing to me. I did some research and decided it was due to food intolerance. A delayed IgE, IgG type of food allergy.

interesting. I'm going to try the experiment again sometime and try to get it down to the exact cause, hopefully. I seems funny because I've never had that type of reaction to pecan pie before. It might be as simple as an intolerance.

SittingDuck, I am surprised that you are able to eat sugar without getting massive candida problems. I wouldn't dare eat sugar or drink alcohol, and gave up pasta a few weeks ago when I felt that even that was encouraging the candida too much. I have lost around 7 pounds in the last few weeks. i guess that is a good thing, since I am still slightly overweight(a 5'7" male now at 168 pounds).

Imo you became tired due to all the carbohydrates. I remember a few times I fell asleep sitting up on my couch after eating a plate of pasta.

Sittingduck,

I have had the same reaction to pecan pie! It totally knocked me out. I don't know if it was the molasses or what but it was very sweet and although I enjoyed it, I paid the price!!! My candida was out of whack then. Now that I have finished my first round of the Humaworm & Humacleanse I am able to eat little bouts of sugar here and there without getting much of a reaction but I'm too afraid to try pecan pie!

Interesting that you had that reaction. I've never had a reaction like I did before I ate the pecan pie. Totally knocked me out too. I eat tons of sugar, chocolate, and what ever else I get my grubby little hands on. I've got a good metabolism rate and so most foods don't stick. Now that I'm done with classes, I need to buy some pecan pie and try it again. I had eaten the pie when I was in classes and man was that a mistake. It's been a long road, but I think there are many here who have traveled down a longer road than mine. The only reason why I even noticed I was mercury toxic was because of my university courses. The required ("easy courses") were a breeze but when I started to get to the advanced courses I felt like I was always forgetting what I read. It started to bother me more and more. The brain fog always drove me away from my studies. To the point where I knew that it wasn't normal. Some research and bam! there it was, amalgam poisoning. When I first saw it, I knew intuitively that it was the root cause. My family does not have any, and I mean any, health issues. My mother said that as far back as she can remember her lineage did not have diseases. This goes for my fathers side too. How could I have been so ignorant and not realize that the metals in my mouth were the cause of so many of my health troubles. Sucks bad!!!!

I don't really know what pecan pie is or where to buy it.
But it would seem the ingredient helping you is pecan nut?
