Hi Mega, you'll find so many contradictory statements regarding mercury that your head will spin! Some feel that no chelation should take place until ALL amalgams are removed, because some get worse trying to do it. Others think some chelation SHOULD be done with amalgams, because they feel it can start getting rid of some of it and also prevents further mercury building up.....not sure what to think.

Some do well, some don't. It is a very individual thing. Cilantro seems t be a pretty powerful chelator of mercury but can also apparently remove brain mercury which may also mean, it "could" take mercury into the brain also, as it does cross blood brain barrier. So if you have a high body burden or still have amalgams, that is the concern.

however, in saying this, some try it and find they do well. Some try it and find they feel worse and get quite upset by the experience. Sosick on here is one of the ones that do well on this stuff, and she still has amalgams.....I thinks he'd be a good one to ask.

Another person (sittingduck) is using cilantro, garlic (supplement), plus a algin (which binds/sponges up any mercury it comes into contact with). All these combined appear to be making a difference to them and they are very happy with this regime....Here their post

You will need to decide what is best for you and unfortunately in doing this, one usually needs to experiment, so I'd suggest starting at very low doses if you really want to go this way and if you really want to do something with amalgams still in. Personally, I would get them out first, BUT again, I cannot be certain if that is the best advice for you or not. If it works for sosick and she's finding chelation even with amalgams a life saver pretty much, then perhaps it may work for you (I don't know).

I do not like to take risks with other people's health by saying "oh just go for it, see what happens". I like to let them know of the risks and it's up to them if they want to try. It really is so individual. The worst thing apparently (one of the worst) is to use Alpha lipoic acid, either with amalgams and/or too early on in the programme, or at high intermittent doses. This stuff has apparently REALLY mucked some people up and Andy Cutler has said that he's seen permanent damage done (irreversible) becuase of wrong chelation with this stuff.

So it is all a risk and I found for me his protocol was the safest and most logical. It worked well, it worked at a good pace and didn't cause me to go into near insanity mode trying to get the metals out. But again it means using a chelating agent every 4 hours around the clock, and that is not exaclty convenient, but for some of us, we don't have much choice. Most other things were not tolerated by me.

I do not understand what exactly cilantro does and how and it varies from person to person as to how they will respond to it. Bear in mind though, that no matter how you do it, usually it hurts detoxing mercury. It is not a smooth experience and you will normally get detox symptoms no matter which way you go about it, the key is not to take unnecessary risks and to find something that works for you, works well and is the best tolerated. Andy believes cilantro, if used at all, should be used late in the programme after amalgam removal and after the body/blood levels are reduced first. But that is up to you. I see a few on here seem to be doing well on it, so what can I say?

I imagine supermarket cilantro will fine! Eating the real thing, probably better than supplementing it. I've tried it and it definitely does do something. I maybe trying the stuff again at some point. But I'd take it slow at first, it may mobilise much more than you're ready for.

Take care and be careful, what works for some, may hurt you. Jinx on here got a terrible reaction with cilantro and I think garlic. I got a horrific reaction with garlic supplementation, when once I did really well with it (I assume my infections may have something to do with the severe reactions). Yet, as I said, some do very well.

Antioxidants like vitamin C, E and selenium etc are also very important. Get good quality ones if you can and use vitamin C in the form of a powder. That's what worked more for me when I was suffering with mercury. Plus having hot baths with epsom salts or combo of baking soda and sea salt. And lying in it up to my chin for as long as I could stand (not to the point of feeling woozy though). Just to help sweat metal out via the pores of the skin. You can shower off after if you want. And I'd use a rebounder (mini trampoline) for lymph, to help detox too and also general walking on a treadmill and/or outdoors.

Plus total avoidance of all sugar, wheat/gluten, yeast etc. These were the worst possible foods I could put into myself. Almost like poison. I went through a detox just giving these up and reduced candida in the process. I made sure I ate healthier foods as well, salads too and plenty of essential fatty acids for healing (and for the brain).
